I am in the midst of having to repair my 2011 Kitchen Aid for the umteenth time. This time it is a clogged sump and motor. I have an extended warranty so the repair is covered. My question is; your opinions what is the best NEW dishwasher out there. Lets say for less than $1000 street price. I am not talking about one that just cleans good, but also reliability. I have been told the Kitchen Aid is still the best out there and others tell me Bosch, I had an appliance dealer tell me Electrolux. What do each of you say?

I have a Kenmore that is the same as a Kitchenaid which is about 4+ years old. It has always worked quite well and cleans quite well too. I have had a Bosch before too, it too cleaned quite well and was about 2 years old when I sold my home.

Electrolux- good cleaning, reliable.

That made me giggle. I think you can do better.

A clogged sump? Clogged with what? May not be machines fault. Was it installed with drain hose not crimped? Have you checked incoming water temp? What type of detergent is used?

I helped a friend recently pick out a Bosch 800 Series SHEM78W55N Stainless steel. This model has the controls where you can see them, which I like. For myself, I would have wanted to look at a Miele, but I have to say that this Bosch is the best dishwasher I have ever used! Maybe it is improved dishwasher detergent (He buys Costco's Kirkland Signature). Those dishes sparkle when the cycle is finished. And it is soon quiet!

I use Finish Powerball tabs. I was told by the repair person this was a common problem on Kitchen Aid with the food chopper in the sump. He said they can get a build up over time. I never heard of this, but again it is being paid for under the extended warranty. I wonder if the Clean Wash system has eliminated this?

The last time I had this machine repaired the repair guy said that what I had was the best choice out there but I just got a bad one.

The racks in this thing are horrible I have replaced the rollers on the bottom twice and the top rollers once.

If you have extended warranty, and it has had multiple replacements.  Ask to see if the lemon clause can be enacted.

I have had a KA for five years now , nada issues.   I use Cascade Platinum, in insure the water is hot 140, going into machine, I scrape but don't pre-rinse.

If your dishwasher is the washer older generation of wp you should plan on keeping it forever. The new style (global wash system) is terrible , as are just about all new dishwashers.

I'm not really in to 1970's kitchenaids but the ones made in the mid 2000's are quiet , powerful and look good.

I just brought home a new LG dw about a month ago and what a turd it is. According to most reviews it's one of the better ones out there.

with the lemon clause the repair has to be for the same issue. One more control panel failure and i am there.

I really do think that I just got a bad machine, everything I read puts KA and Bosch at the top of the game.
