New Dryer :D

my mum has a white knight compact 3kg and putting it mildly its coming to the of its time :'(
she has had it from new and its about 10-14 years old im nearly sixteen and she has had it from as long as i remember except this creda thing we has that was rusty which my nan had in the end and got rid of it 2 years ago (replaced with white knight compact)
its needs to be second hand if possible

please give me some advise of what i can get her thanks

i have thought about it and everyone seems to have them my sister has one and its crap i hate it it takes ages to heat up im look for for something full size as well and i no white knight do full size i just dont like them lool

no. some of zanussi's dryers are poorly made. when i was in john lewis i was looking at a few of the zanussi dryerrs and the buttons felt plasticky amd the doors only took one tap to close fully. i dont kow nid they mght actually be good but after tha experiance i had with a zanussi washing machine back in november-december i steer clean away

White Knight or Zanussi......

If you're going with another compact dryer then get another White Knight. The choice for compacts is quite small & although Indesit/Hotpoint do them too they look like they vent from the front into a room, rather than through a hose like the White Knight.

If you want a full size vented then either White Knight or Zanussi would be fine. For White Knight go with something like the 44AW as this has reverse-tumble unlike the cheaper White Knight. If Zanussi then try & find one that looks just like your Zanussi Washer, as the newer designed Zanussis that have recently been launched don't look as well made - i also noticed poorly fitting buttons on the facia on a recent trip to Currys.

For Condensers get a Zanussi, again to match the washer. Theyre certainly not bombproof but are more or less as good as you'll get unless you spend silly money. I quite like the look of White Knight Condensers as you can see through the door (unlike Zanussi) but i've heard they let quite alot of moisture escape into the room, which isn't ideal in a kitchen or well-decorated utility room.

I can see youre on a budget so i would say avoid Beko dryers. Their washers are decent but their dryers seem to tangle clothes & break down too quickly. An Indesit/Hotpoint vented dryer might be ok but quality control seems abit more haphazard than Zanussi & White Knight and i wouldn't personally go near one of their Condensers - like White Knight there's reports they let too much moisture escape into the room.

Failing that get a decent second hand model. A late 90s Zanussi Dual Temperature or White Knight would be as good as any. Tricity Bendix dryers wern't bad either - some vented ones were made by White Knight.

Ive got the Electronic Sensor version of a Dual Temperature from around 1998 & it works fine.

Zanussi dryers

I'd have to agree with Liam, I think Zanussi dryers are some of the best out there for the price. You can generally ignore those who have an anti Electrolux/Zanussi agenda.

Liam, not only are manners lacking in some cases, but capital letters and basic punctuation are as well.

Glad you've found a Zanussi dryer, Trey. I don't like Zanussi stuff for the sake of it - i do think compared to what else is available in their price range, they tend to offer the least compromise. We have a huge amount of Zanussi/Electrolux/Tricity Bendix appliances in the family (over 17 products of varying ages at last count) & none have failed prematurely or been problematic - that's not something one can say about many manufacturers other than the most expensive.

It's true newer stuff isn't as good quality as their older models but this is the same with most manufacturers now. Their older stuff was and remains some of the best you can buy & their newer stuff is still pretty decent.

Anyway do keep us posted on the new dryer when it arrives.

I have limited experience of dryers, I do not own one anymore. I used to have the same Zanussi condenser that Aquarius pictured.

I have used a White Knight condenser, it's an ok dryer although to me it takes an age to dry things and boy is it noisy!!!
