Whilst popping into see my old colleagues at the co-op i scanned the stock as of course we all know it would be rude not too!!

There was the 8kg zanussi from the last range. which i've never seen in the flesh until now! And the new jetsystem is a wide blue thin block about 5cm long! & the drum is the same as the electrolux insights with wavey paddles & they have holes in the back of the drum!!!

This was also confirmed in my new AEG brochures i got today. The pics of the drum were in the intergrated brochure!

Just thought i'd share that with you!

So which zanussi models have got the electrolux drums?
So it's jetsystem is wide as the hoover new waves front fill flume?

I think its 7 & 8kg models. The one i saw was the cool zanussi 8kg with LCD display. Though it was in the last range it has the new Zanussi only named dispenser. Wonder if they've kept it Just not in brochures?

It is about 5cm long top to bottom and about 3wide i'd say.

I was well impressed! lol.

Yes I noticed that myself it reminded me of the older Hotpoint drum in the WF860P. Holes in the rear of the drum seem very popular these days I guess Electrolux had to join the club LOL.

Thats the kitten! I think it looks quite nice! Yea it looks very hotpoint esque! lol. And those paddles are cool. From your brief experience with the insight, did the wavey paddles shower well?

dyson2drums: I think the 8kg is old stock they got in before it discontinued. I do want it though. They also still have the first insight from 2years ago selling at £529. I've told them it will never sell but if they feel like selling it at cost price i would have bought it!

Wavy Paddles

Hi Darren,
Yes indeed the wavy paddles did shower very well, in fact they done the majority of the soaking as the pathetic jet just ran down the door glass, across the door seal, through the drain holes and back into the outer tub. I did not notice the new jet, what has changed? I think the older yellow plastic jet was always much better than the later rubber jet as it actually hit the wash load.

Hi Darren,
I actually liked the Insight, it was a very well made machine in particular the main bearings were huge and should prove very robust and reliable. It was a good washer but not so good at rinsing, but in its defense I have extremely soft water here which is known to cause rinsing issues. I would say it would be fine in medium or hard water areas.
I would still have it if it had the drum light as advertised.

My advice if you are offered the machine at a reasonable price go for it, it will be a reliable washer especially with your new Baby on the way.

Seems like you just had a friday model. I would recommend elux machines to anybody. Though the low rinsing is abit too low on some on their models. When i lived back home with my rents we got an AEG which is running faultlessly to this day 5years later. The standard rinses are low and do spin rinses. But thankfully there was a rinse + option that adds a rinse and increases water levels about 5inches up the door. Which you can set until you decide to turn it off. I didn't read anywhere in the elux manual that this is possible but there is an extra rinse button. Don't know if this adds anymore water?

I would love to get the insight from the co-op. but unfortunately funds aren't readily avaliable atm. So the only way i'm going to get rid of this damn hotpoint is by selling it or getting something 2nd hand on ebay or something. Which is majorly annoying.

The thing i kick myself about is..i was going to get the 7kg 1400 insight instead of this hotpoint. but i was abit concerned about the rinsing...and knew hotpoints did high rinsing. Though you can only do a maximum of 3.

Don't you hate it when you make rash decisions and then think about it afterwards lol.

My 2002 AEG Lavamat 72640 has a 'rubber' water jet, it works very apart from if the water level is too low the jet has occasionally dripped down the door but this hardly ever happens as the machine realises its low on water and takes in some more.

I find the jet to be good with the 'spin rinse' allows the machine to use less water.

I have the older AEG - Zanussi drum without the holes at the back. The paddles provide a bit of 'soak and rain' action as they scoop water.

As long as your Hotpoint is running well I would say your better off keeping it. They are not bad machines and don't forget your five year parts guarantee if something serious does go amiss with it. You could buy something more vintage and have nothing but problems with it.

The Insight jet worked OK during the rinses but any suds during the wash made it run down the door glass.

I think the problem with the Insight jet was caused by the tilted tub unit. The door seal is also angled and I think the designers overlooked this fact, as a result the jet which worked perfectly on your AEG was angled down too much on the Insight causing the water to run down the door glass. I hope I am making sense to everyone? I have seen the AEG's washing and the jet does hit the wash load correctly it appears have the same flow rate as the Insight jet.

Hi David. I agree. With regards to the tilted rum there is no point in having a jet is its just hitting the glass door and not 'jetting' onto the load.

It seems the newer AEG models are different with regards to the programme sequences etc etc. Not sure if the Fuzzy Logic is as 'intelligent' as the brochure makes out.
 
New Jet

Hi Darren,
That's good news, the older yellow jet worked very well producing a fan like spray of water. If the blue jet is the same or similar design it should work very well and resolve the issue of the jet running down the door glass.
