Help Support :

Ya know,

Every time I make plans to see Bri in Massachussetts, it snows, MAJORLY.

I do hope, dear Rich, that you have called who you have to call to be sure we have a clear day on 03/11/06.

Yankee Swap

A yankee swap is a blast, and if you have never been in one it is much more fun to experience it in person than to be told about it. If everyone agrees to bring a "gift", then we are all set. Usually a dollar amount is agreed to by all before anyone purchases a gift, but maybe we can all go digging in our treasure banks for a gift. Who wouldn't want an activator or bed-of-nails lint filter for a gift?! What do you all think?

Yankee Swap aka Yankee Swipe

I dont mind a Yankee Swap much...but it has always been my experience to get something that I do want and like but only to have it taken from me and then end up with something that I will have to "re-gift". And not only that it can get bitchey...especially when someone is possesive and doesnt want to give up a great gift that you have to pry from thier grubby little mitts!!
It can be entertaining to say the least and the name calling can be creative...much like a card game with gay mens...you just feel the love in the room so to say.

Yankee swaps are okay if: 1) Everyone agrees to only bring gag gifts and 2) Everyone is drunk.

Otherwise, every other one I've seen has had someone in tears.

Yankee Swap

This sounds like fun. However, it is need to be decided upon if the gift should be appliance related or more generic. I had a lot of fun a New Years eve party playing Bingo, picking a prize, leaving it on another table, only for the next winner to either choose another prize or steal mine. Well...everyone kept stealing the case of Snapple (this is what I mean about more generic), that finally the person who stole it last dropped it on the sidewalk. All of the bottle broke. What a way to end the night. Everyone was ROLF LMAO. So you see this can be a lot of fun. I came home with a container of Shower Gel. Oh Well.......

Just something to think about.

"Do I smell DRAMA brewing? LOL" ....I don't think it's drama...smells more like Charlie. Kind of fun. Kind of now :-)

Bobby!!! Yankee Swap

Bobby,

Are you going to organize the Yankee Swap? I think it's a great idea and could be an absolute blast!!!! Your taking this on would be a great help to me :-) (batting eyelashes and making a boo-boo face)

Rich

Absolutely, Rich, if that is what everyone wants. I just need to know how many are going to attend, and we need to agree on a limit of what to bring (wrapped, of course)! This could be a blast if we keep it light and fun. Keep the thread going!

Yankee Swap

Bobby, This can be a lot of fun. We do this every year at a Christmas in July party. The items have to be new, sort of useful, and some are funny. Everyone always has a great time. If you need any help or suggestions please let me know. You have my e-mail.

It might be fun to have some not new items, too. For vintage washer collectors, used might not be so bad. What do you think? It will be so much fun to meet everyone. Has anyone considered a snow date or a Sunday brunch type thing to close the wash-in and send everyone off happy?

Hi Bobby,

I think that vintage goods is a great idea!! We will ALL have to agree on these things so please chime in everyone!!!!

Let me think about a snow date. I will get back to you all with this.

As for a brunch I was thinking that since it starts at 10am we would have some bagles/toast and coffee (all prepared at the table in vintage appliances) and snacks then we can have a late lunch/early dinner with the pot luck goodies! Later, if anyone gets hungry, we can whip up something to eat. I'm Italian....no food shortage!!! :-)

This is going to be fun!!!!
Rich
