Jimmy, this newer GE looks similar to the Mobile Maid I have with the ribbon impeller and similar/same racks. When the motor went out in my KDS-18, I used the MM for a while and with some altering of it's rather short cycle, it wasn't all that bad. Since it had little or no ability to pulverize food particles, sometimes an extra rinse was needed to remove all crumbs, etc. but the top sprayer would help tremendously with that annoyance. Well, everything can be replaced so why not give it a try - you may like it so much you'll want to paint the Flair range pink! That beautiful refrigerator was worth the effort all by itself!

Cool finds, especially the GE Roll-Out DW! Have never seen one like it before, not in photos and especially not in person! Glad to hear it works, if it's 100% leak-free then that's even better news!

You hit the jack pot. Very nice collection. I have been looking for a dishwasher like that for some time. Did not know the TOL was so nice. I had a BOL growing up. I have a portable Mobile Maid like your last one & this one you have now is a better machine by far. I have a KD11 in my kitchen now that will get yanked when I find a roll out Mobile Maid. Wow Jimmy, great finds! That's the newest GE Rollout dishwasher I've ever seen, very fun. I wonder why they never used the kitchen? When I was a kid we went out to eat three or so times a week, but we still used the kitchen on the other days.

Unused Kitchens

Growing up, I had a friend whos family moved into a newly constructed home back in 64. The kitchen was all frigidaire with the flair range, fridge and dishwasher. His mom NEVER used the kitchen. Being Italian and always having big family gatherings, they had a complete kitchen setup down in the basement with her old appliances. Guess it was easier for the grandmas and aunts to move around in since it was all open space. After his dad passed away, about 10 years ago, his mom sold the house. The kitchen was exactly the same as the day they had moved in.

My sister's mother-in-law is the same way. Never used the kitchen upstairs. Everything is downstairs in the basement.

Italian's and their kitchens

I am also very Italian. When my Mom redid her kitchen the old one got moved downstairs. She uses the one downstairs for realy messy projects and when she needs an extra oven, but she also uses her kitchen upstairs regularly. If we had basements in the South, I'd probably have an extra kitchen downstairs just because I'm Italian and thought it was what I was supposed to do. LOL! Years ago I think they did it because it was cooler down there in the summertime. Now everyone has A/C, but I suspect they do it because they think they are supposed to.

Hey, I'm Italian, too! My Mom was from Frosinone, Italy. But I digress. My main purpose was to say:
