Well we finally got the new laminate floor in the livingroom and good riddance to that broadloom. Love the new floor and I'm having the whole living/dining/kitchen area and ceilings painted this coming Tuesday.. Out with the old and in with the new and some vintage retro... finally.
Over the front foyer entrance hung this plastique chandelier........
and note all the mustard yellow paint

And say good-bye to all that mustard yellow paint, the Victorian furniture and paintings etc. starting this Tuesday..
I did a half wall just to see if I liked the new Gray. Hoping it will lighten up the place
Even my vintage Electrolux is looking better already

We;re going moderne

The Wedding Cake mantel will also be going eventually, just have to figure out what to do. I'd like to bring that wall back to it's original look. Gray brick fireplace, wall to wall brick with the top half of that wall a wood veneer to match the beams on the ceiling.. Oh that woman before ruined the room,, ruined it. And if you look back at the first picture,, that shelf area where all that junk is sitting, the brass urns etc.. those two areas used to be built in flower boxes for planting big greenery.. she covered them over because she said it was too "dirty" the twit

Painter's Mask

If you tell me you're thinking about painting your living room my mind asks before lunch or after. I love to paint and wish I was close enough to help. My idea of heaven, good company, giving the old place a new look, a basement full of vintage appliances and talking until your jaws ache.

Pete, that certainly will be a change. In the picture on my computer it looks blue rather than gray.

Picking colors is difficult. I redid one of the bathrooms and am having a terrible time getting the color right. I used to have a designer who knew me so well She'd have things pulled in minutes that I loved. Due to the economy she is long gone and I'm not having luck doing it on my own. The cabinets and tile are all pretty neutral so anything works, but it has to have some punch and visual interest.

Kelly, thanks for that offer. A friend of mine offered to help as well and he's got a rock steady hand for doing edging but the ceilings needed done as well and there's so much ladder work I figured this time for the first time I'm having painters come in and do it. Even so they tell me it's going to take 3 days for 2 guys.

Matt, my pic makes it look a little blue but it is definitely gray. Course there are lots of grays as I have the paint samples, some with tinges of purple or blue etc.. This one was the most gray of grays I could find.

What I'm nervous about is that I like color and colorful walls but this time I'm going for the bright colorful furniture and some really colorful art on the wall, even if I have to paint those myself.

Our main bathroom may be next. The previous owner (being Dutch and loving her yellows and blues, sorry Louis lol) painted the walls in there a dark blue and it doesn't go with the light yellow and brown original tiling at all.

Here's the sofa I'd like to get for the livingroom, but rather than the full size sofa I just want the loveseat version. That sofa is too long at 99 inches. I don't want it overwhelming the room. Besides I want some funky chairs and hopefully can get one of my folks old 50's swivel chairs recovered
