Those buttons would have been for preselected radio stations. I've seen them on many, many old console radios.
However, KDKA might not be among them. The pretuned selections were tailored and marked for the specific market the radio was being sold in.
These markings could help identify part of the radio history. I've noticed a few radios turn up in my area that have no stations that belong to this market. While stations do come and go, there are some call letters that have been around forever and are still with us. My assumption is that radio ended up being moved at some point, but it wasn't worth the time or cost to get the radio changed.
