NEW FRIGIDAIRE FRONTLOADERS

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

I downloaded the operating instructions for the old top-of-the-line model, and the new one.

Here are the differences:

OLD CYCLES:
Deep Clean Sanitary
Heavy Duty
Normal
Perm Press
Delicates
Hand Wash
Spin Only

NEW CYCLES:
Deep Clean Sanitize (note change in wording, here)
Heavy
Whitest Whites
Normal/Casual
Quick (new 25-minute cycle)
Delicates/Hand Wash
Spin Only

OLD OPTIONS:
Stain Clean (adds 5-minute soak to wash portion of cycle)
Extra Rinse
Extended Spin
Signal Volume

NEW OPTIONS:
Energy Saver (cooler wash temps)
Extra Rinse
Stain Clean
Signal Volume
(no option for extended spin)

NEW TEMPERATURE OPTION
Sanitize (available only on the Deep Clean Sanitize cycle, unfortunately)

The Whitest Whites Cycle (15-minute wash time): They recommend using liquid chlorine bleach and to add an extra rinse. Most Whirlpool-based washers automatically add the extra rinse for their Whitest Whites cycle. Also strange: the default wash temp for this cycle is "warm".

Now that the new line of dryers has a 7.0 cu. ft. drum (a much-needed bump up from the puny 5.8 cu. ft.), I'm waiting for the washer to bump up to a 4.0-to-4.4 cu. ft. size. Also wish the washer had a steam-clean option, but I don't believe even the upscale Electrolux line has a steam option.

I Currently have an Affinity 6000 and love it, I make my own whitest whites cycle, heavy wash, extra rinse, stain clean, and the heavy dirt level (extra 2 min of wash time), and hot water. It makes for a 101 min wash. I never use chlorine beach just Oxyclean. I don't have the Sanitary cycle on mine.

Peter, they do have a prewash.

But it's not automatic, to avoid those hosekeepers that always run the prewash for everything, even when it's not necessary (and consequently save millions of gallons of water around the world)

how to manually prewash at affinity (old version, the same as I have):

Choose spin only, extra rinse, no spin (or low speed spin if you prefer), add detergend in the drum, close, press start imediatelly.

If you choose no spin it will take 8 minutes prewashing and 2 minutes draining.

If you choose any other spin speed, the cycle takes 18 minutes.

Frigidaire!

Yes Thomas I know you can do that and I don't mind a manual prewash but they should have a cycle that does it. Also they should have a seperate rinse and spin also instead of having to use extra rinse with spin only. I do however like the Frigidaires better than the other front loaders.
Thanks
Peter

My machine was replaced under warranty after an accident with the dryer caused by the Electrolux service.

the new "version" of the same model (review 3) has sn interesting spin rinse. I don't know if the american versions of affinity have it or not.

I don't think so because this spin rinse can be because our HE detergents are too sudsy.

Just to put clear, it's an update inside the same model. (the american "old" affinity
