Well ot looks like whirlytag just brought the "pet pro" filter to the front load machines, one of the drum baffles has the blue lint/hair filter, and the pet cycle which uses more water to flush out and catch hair. I'm pretty sure i could retrofit my 2023 whirlpool front load and take out one of the baffles and replace it with this filter part. This is my only gripe with my front loader is that it is terrible at handling lint and dog hair, i literally have to clean my pump trap every month, this would solve so many issues with front load machines.

Infusor, have you thought about running garments that have lots of pet hair through the dryer on air fluff for about 10-20 minutes before putting the load in the awsher, thus filtering out a lot of pet hair? I do that for our garments and it's a similar concept Speed Queen uses for their pet laundry features.

A step in the right direction...

Nice to see a manufacture implementing a useful feature.

I'd prefer a manual clean design so it doesn't plug up the standpipe or other pluming/septic tank. But then most would probably forget about it and then complain about odors. We all know how things like this pan out with the average user.

Never owned

a front load machine, however I'm trying to understand why the design would have issues with lint and pet hair filtering that I've never experienced with a top load machine.

My crude filtering system consists of a stainless steel "sock" attached to the end of my Speed Queens drain hose which drains into a laundry tray, I replace it when it's noticeably full of lint and pet hair.

Not dissing front loaders at all, they do have their merits, however I'm trying to wrap my head around what's different between the 2 designs.

BTW, I've read elsewhere where access to this filter is a real PITA, I hope that's not the case with your machine.

Indeed, I remember as a kid remembering watching lint and hair "dance" around in our circa '60 GE top loader filter fitted to the top of the agitator, I found it mesmerizing.

Is this what many here refer to as GE's "Filter-Flo" design?

Alas, the machine suffered multiple transmission failures as I remember, it was replaced by a bare-bones Maytag top loader, no more dancing lint and hair to enjoy thereafter...lol

Interesting!

Reminds me a little bit of the “lint chaser” fin on Westinghouse front loaders of the 70’s. Maybe this will help front loaders be a better option for pet owners. It’s a step in the right direction for sure.

OK

So everything about this FL I like... It's big... It's 27 inch (so it says) and it has a heater.. It has a pet cycle that uses MORE water..

I don't even have pets anymore but I used to deal with cat hair...but I never noticed it clogging the drain pump in my duet.

I thought 27 inch FL's that had that big of a drum were wider. Anything over 27 inches would be out for me because as it stands with my 27 inch duet.. there's enough space to get behind the dryer which I need to do frequently (another story)

I've been really wanting an LG with turbo wash as my next FL... but who knows who long it will be b4 I need a new FL...so things change... You never know

I'm just not sure I trust Whirlpool as much I used to
