Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

I flip flop

between Gubmint or Goobermint. Depends on my mood at the time.

I guess in an attempt to be nice I could call them the DC Follies crowd.

I often wonder what lurks in the Potomac (assuming that is the water supply for DC). Never in my life have I seen a candidate show brains and common sense and sho' 'nuff, he/she gets to DC starts drinking water from the Potomac and goes brain dead faster than a snowmelt in July.

My opinion...

Everyones opinions are different, and everyone is entitle to their own. But with that being said, my 4 year old Duet runs just as good now as it did then. No repairs, mold, odor, or special cleaners required. With that being said, it also has the option to run 4 rinses on any given cycle (which I never use). I despise the poor and abysmal quality in these new machines, and I am proud to say that my Duet has fantastic quality in comparison to these new disposable machines (although, still not the greatest ever). I really have been interested in these new GE machines until seeing this video. No thanks! My hopes have been shattered with their quality.

They make some pretty valid points in their video. Though a few things annoy me.

1. Whirlpool actually develops and assembles so labeled machines in America.
2. "A SQ only is x00$ more!" Yep. But that's still 200$, not including the saveings on drying, water and energy.
3. Haier is the biggest selling manufacturer. Thus can be considered number 1.

But really, you're washers are expensive. We have a washer, sold and delivered with 4 years warranty by Whirlpool here in Germany for converted less then 500$. And owning one of these wonders, of corse I know that the sides are thin and can vibrate and resonate during spin. And that it has several bugs in its software. And its drawer is wobbly.
But for the price of a SQ TL, I can go out and buy a TOL BSH washer or a BOL Miele. Both will serve me well for 10-15 years.

I'm seriously thinking now that your quality might not even be off, just the prices you pay.

that's why I like the older tougher stuff too (and european stuff) because it's usually built tougher.  Asko 18 years now, Mom's kitchenaid 21 years now, maytag 22 years now.we plan to repair repair repair until it can't be repaired anynore

pardon my tuping...my ambien has kicked in.  must enter the realm of dreamjog v gg

I just looked at the new BOL machine at Home Depot. It is really NICE. I was impressed. Very nicely designed, sturdy machine. I'm wanting to get a stacked unit to free up storage space, but these are very tempting. They are really big!

Nice job GE on new washer

For all those putting down this new washer, you really should see it. Very nice well made washer. The stainless tub is nice and it's suppose to move freely, it's part of the suspension system. They did a nice job designing this machine and the lid is very solid. I would buy one in a heart beat if I needed a new washer. It has five star ratings by everyone who has purchased it.

Oh, lordy! So much here, lol. I'm glad other people have the same 'buttons' I do.

People getting dumber? I've noticed an epidemic of certain kinds of thinking/logic errors (in the clinical sense) in the last 20 years:
- the notion that inanimate objects respond to thoughts, feelings, and beliefs.
- the idea that if you refuse to accept something, said thing will somehow get up and go away.
- messenger and message are somehow connected: arguing with the messenger will change the truth (or lack thereof) of the message
- things and their labels are connected: If I change the label, that changes the thing, itself.
- things just spontaneously happen, without antecedents.
- failure to recognize when information presented is contradictory, disjointed, etc.

Specific example from above: How many people do you think understand that the carbon footprint of the cleaner they now have to buy for their new super eco washer is part of the carbon footprint of the washer? My vote is for not many.

Go google Dilbert's List "You are wrong because..." by Scott Adams. He illustrates my point far better than I can, lol.

Another thing that always amazes me:

People tell me that the latest doohickey is better than mine and I should get it. I ask how the new doohickey will save me time, energy, etc. People rarely have an answer

people being supposedly dumber

I grew up in the 1960s and 1970s and I found out that people actually believed that the people in Hooterville actually existed. Lisa Douglas had a lot of extension cords to make her horrible biscuits! Hooterville telcom didn't have enough wire so they had to climb the pole. :)

GE washers still being made

Here we are in 2024, and nothing has changed. These are still being made with different revisions. Whyare they still doing it? Too many people are are still gullible. Not to revive this thread, but it seems that as time passes, things only get worse as far as build quality is concerned. Folks, don't hold your breath. Things will only get worse before they get better. If this thread is being revived, this is why. Clearly, nothing has changed.
