New hotpoint S line washing machine

Hi guys. Not posted in a while. I've got the following machine being delivered on Tuesday morning. I've had my beko for three years now and feel it's time for a change. I do have to say the beko has been faultless and it's never missed a beat and it's going to a good home. My brothers which will replace his 6 year old Indesit.

I thought I would give hotpoint a second chance seeing as they are now doing a ten year warranty on their newer machines.

Nice machine. I'm sure you will like it. I hope you don't need to make use of their 10 year warranty. Please remember there is a £109 labour charge with this 10 year parts warranty. I'm happy with my 7 month old Hotpoint Smart 9KG washing machine, apart from the time it developed an F05 fault and refused to do anything. Apparently the engineer thought it was because the machine was being overloaded. I now take care not to overload it. The I only gripe I have is that it can be rather sensitive when spinning and fusses so much when it comes to spinning. I'm not used to Indesit/Hotpoints that I've used before being like that, but I guess it is a 9kg one so it needs to make sure it doesn't damage itself when washing very large, heavy 9kg loads. Oh no. I'm hoping it's not gonna be too fussy with the spin cycle. That's the only thing with the direct drive. I had an LG washer years ago that was a 1400 spin and I think it only ever reached full speed twice in that time. As for the ten year warranty it'll be changed before then lol. I get bored easily plus I repair appliances as my job so labour isn't an issue

I saw these on the UK Facebook group a few months back! Certainly a stylish looking machine, I hope it all works on for you Rob.

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts on these. Some of the info suggested that the cottons 40 cycle took 5 hours to complete and there was no inbetween cycle - just a quick wash and a ridiculously long cottons wash.

Hi. I was a bit shocked at the wash times but there is a time saver button and there are a few wash programmes that'll be used a lot. The steam is a bit of a let down. It just drops water into the bottom of the machine enough to cover the element and that's how the steam works. It's got a pump in the bottom of the machine to circulate the soap and water and makes it into a foam. It's not as fussy on spin as I thought and it's pretty quiet

It's got a 1400 spin which is great. Ten minutes but to do one rinse and spin is 49 minutes. As much as I loved my beko the only downside with the beko was rinsing. It never seemed to rinse all the soap out regardless of how little powder I put in. The hotpoint rinses really well.

Funny you should say that Rob, I found the rinsing to be excellent on the Beko my partner had. Infact, it was one of the best rinsing modern machines I've used. I'd go so far as to say it rinsed better than my Miele. Although the Miele was the better machine overall, hence we kept it when we moved in together.

Out of interest, how long is a normal cottons 40 cycle with no options selected?

Cotton cycle

Hiya. Normal cotton cycle is 3hr 20 minutes which will never be used.
As for my beko it used loads of water to rinse but still always seemed to have soap in the water. To be honest I really miss the machine. Could do I 60 degree wash with 1400 spin in 61 minutes. It was the 7kg machine but I really had to stuff the duvet in which is why I've changed the machine as I wash it every week. Touch of ocd plus my dog sleeps on my bed a lot.

You wash the duvet every week? Wow, that's dedication! I do ours twice a year, despite the cat sleeping on the bed with us (I do have to hoover the duvet cover down before it goes in the wahsing machine though!) . My Miele is only a 6kg though, so I do have to take it to the laundrette. Maybe next time I'll opt for a larger capacity for that very reason

Duvet washi

Yup every week lol. I shampoo the bedroom carpets every month. Vacuum three times a day. The dreaded ocd doesn't let you rest. I wash my mattress every few months and you'll be surprised what comes out of it. Vacuum it every week as well. I worked out earlier on I'm on my 26th washing machine in 23 years. In all that time I've never had one breakdown.

Hi Robbie, looking forward to the reviews, sounds like you can put it through its paces, does it do a "Spin Only"...
I know a lot of these machines can be iffy for small loads spinning.

I'm on wash load number ten since Monday lol. So yup it's going through its paces. It does have a spin only cycle which takes ten minutes. It's not as fussy as I thought. It'll spend about a minute trying to balance if it's a small load but it's always done the full 1400 spin no problems. The beko was the same speed and it spun excellent and so does this.
I would still swap it for an old hotpoint 800 electronic any day though lol

Oh, I vacuum and flip the mattress every week. We've always done that. My brother has very bad asthma so one of the things the nurse suggested my Mum do was vacuum and flip the beds each week, so it's always been part of our weekly routine.

I aim to wash all the carpets in the house twice a year. I don't suffer with OCD, I'm just clean lol.

I suppose at least owning so many washers has given you a very broad experience. Are there any machines you've had that stand out as being particularly good or particularly bad?

How many vacuums have you managed to get through in all that time?

The best washers I've had have been the early hotpoints 80's and early 90's. Hot and cold fill and quick with great results. My first washer when I was 17 was my hotpoint top loader. It cost me 45 and I loved it.
Worst washer I bought was the Indesit model w123. Lasted 13 months from new before it broke. The board burnt out and the timer kept turning on its own. Managed to replace the board with a second hand one then a few months later the motor went. Again replaced it with a second hand one. Then got rid of it and replaced it with a second hand hotpoint Aquarius which cost me 15 quid. That machine was on three or four times a day seven days a week for over four years and never broke. Give it my aunt and she had it three years before she give it away to a friend and it lasted just over another year. Total bargain for fifteen quid. I bought it as being sold with a bearing problem and it was only a bra strap stuck in the drum.

I do also repair washers it's what I trained for back in my YTS days.
Vacuum's I've been quite lucky with. My current is a vax upright 2000 watts and it's over three years old now and no problems not even a belt gone. I think it's how you use things and basic maintenance and they last

Hi robliverpool, does your model have the recirculation spray at the top? Im aware that some s-line models have the recirculation spray for faster wash times and for the eco setting
