Well, Dons dad made the deal and we have started tearing out and remodeling, Here are some before pics, 1st, outside.

New Roof and siding, it will be grey with white trim and a grey roof. it already has nice new windows, of course some major pruning and general yard work.

The roof had leaked sometime in the past, so Dons dad said to remove the old ceiling celotex and he woul get his sheetrock/plaster guy to install a new one!!! Well, when we started we found out just why it seems so tight and solid, the ceiling is sheeted just like a subfloor!!Here you can see the old celotex partially removed.

Bed room,
In the back bedroom there was old ugly paneling, so we removed it, on the wall in glue was written Roy Williams, 1970, That was Donald's Great Uncle who lived there.

A large or elaborate house, but I can jump up and down in the middle of any room and it dosent even rattle,No chipcore and no waferboard, its solid wood! Here is the front door...Which we took off to get the old fridge out, it took two of us to lift it!

LOTS of work, but im really dreading moving all this stuff!!!This is the yard and garden are behind the building, that small building is....a honest to goodness chicken coop!

Dons Dad is a great carpenter, at nearly 80 he still flips houses doing much of the carpentry work himself, Dons Brother also is a very good finish carpenter, Don aint bad at woodworking either, I dont even try, I cant read a rule and am terrible at driving nails..LOL!Here is a corner of then kitchen...with tons of tools and debris fron tearing out the ceiling, im going to strip that awful brown off those cabinets and paint them brilliant white, the walls will be Turquoise.If you look close there is a beer on the counter, it was in the frige when we bought the place, im going to slip it in Dons moms fridge....She would just as soon drink arsenic!!LOL...Boy will she be suprised..LOL

Yes they are the old fashioned built on site type, They are solid and have tons of room, im going to replace the old pitted hardware with new repo stuff as close as I can get to the original.

Hans! Your electric mower isn't going to get much use in that yard! It all looks so good. Are both the house and garage covered in asphalt single? Just be careful! I'm pea green with envy! If only I can find a house like that in Keokuk, IA where we're moving to!
I like it. Looks like a great 'nest'.

It's a little hard to tell from the pictures, but if your cabinet pulls are the plain, curved "50's Modern" type, they're still made and they're in every Home Depot.
I have them in my house, and when I moved in, the previous tenant had somehow managed to remove and lose one. My landlady was amazed when she saw that the cabinets had all their pulls once again - and matching, too.
The new ones appear to be the same die as the old ones, which means they're not so much reproduced as continued....
They're like a buck each.
