Gibson appliances were middle of the road for a long time. Refrigerators, ranges, etc. Then WCI bought them, and all bets were off.
Gibson was one of WCI's earlier appliance company acquisitions (1967), along with Kelvinator and Hamilton. Those three brands of laundry equipment were identical except for trim for several years. I'm thinking this dryer is from after WCI's purchase of the Westinghouse appliance div., and based on that companies design.
