Old DW: KENMORE Elite Quiet Guard 655 16632000 13 years old
New DW: Kenmore 655 13222 w/powerwave
Hope I don't get flamed, but I wanted to put an opposing opinion here. I learned a lot here very recently.
A recent need to purchase a new dishwasher got me all interested in the tech. Some consumer reports articles and reviews, and then this site had me thinking I should have sprung the $200 for the new motor, grinder assembly instead of the $400 score 77 from CR Kenmore (with $1000 DW above and below it). I thought to myself, 160 minute smartwash cycle times, 3.5 hour pot wash, no food disposer, no violent water throwing...
And I am thrilled!!! Using Kirkland pacs (same as always) my dishes have never been this clean, nor my pots and pans. (smartwash and smartwash with heated water seems to tackle most things. Only used pots and pans once for full pots and pans in the last week). Not sure the time matters that much either.
And its deep without the macerator. I can stuff the thing too! Top rack can hold a stew/pasta pot.
Quieter than the quiet guard. Blown away. It even cleaned the bottom of a frying pan that never looked quite good.
I'm gonna get hate messages? Or I hope clarifications. But for the price. The performance is really really good.
Still can't get any good info on how three stage filtration really works no matter how much I google (and why is it three stage if the water can go through the big hole in the top and then through the mesh, its two stage no matter how you look at it).
OK. I'm gushing, and am way pleasantly surprised (still think I'm going to be worried when the old top loader goes).
Maybe I am wrong, but.
(one thing I will complain about is I came across some EU manuals for DW and they had wash/rinse cycle listings for each of the options and the kenmore manual is real short on details. I would love if the manual had real nitty gritty in it)
