I'm with you on this one.

Still a little to pricey for what it does. I am the world's first "early adopter" when it comes to this stuff especially if it has anything to do with the kitchen but I don't see the need for this. It may also have something to do with the fact that I'm really not all that thrilled with the Keurig for hot coffee. I have one to offer guests a variety but I don't use it much for myself. Maybe an occasional Hot Chocolate but that's about it. I have the 2.0 and that added another layer of "Pain in the Assness" with the K-cups that had no logo. I have the fix and use that when needed but it's a lotta bother if you ask me for coffee that's mediocre at best.

The machine itself is expensive and each pod is very expensive. I can buy 12 cans of pop for $4 which works out to about $0.33 per can whereas the Kold makes an 8 oz. glass for $1.50. Add in the electrical cost to keep the unit running 24 hours day in order to keep it 'ready' and it just isn't worth it to me.

I have the 2.0 as well...Keurig sent it to me as a replacement after my B70 brewer quit working after only a couple of months. I find the coffee from the 2.0 is not as hot as with previous models. I have a B60 also at my office and it has seen daily use for the past 8 years or so with no problems.

That is even more ludicrous then a hot Keurig machine. And personally I wasn't sure that could be done lol

People sure love those things, and with holiday shopping in full swing the next crop is flying out the door to clutter up the landfill's next year...

I'm forever switching out coffee makers. I had been using the Philips Senseo but there isn't much selection of coffee however they're quite inexpensive.. 36 for about $10.. Prior to that I was using the little deLonghi Piccollo which uses Nescafe Dulce Gusto pods. It makes excellent coffee, the best I've tasted from a pod type machine. However they're difficult if not impossible to find now except online. They're cheaper too than Keurig.. 16 for around $8.

Anyways.. I dug it out on Sunday to start using it again. Ran to the store to get a box of pods. came home.. it wouldn't work.. So I looked online and here was the machine and 4 boxes of pods for $79.. a better machine actually than the one I had, the Genio model... so I ordered it and waiting patiently for it to arrive.. hopefully tomorrow. https://www.dolce-gusto.ca/

Congratulations Pete!

I have a Genio generation I, it's a great machine. I got rid of the Senseo a long time ago, used a Nespresso machine for a while, but ordering the cups is a PITA. The pods for the Dolce Gusto are available in every supermarket here. They're more expensive than in Canada (about 30 eurocents per pod), but I really love a cup of Dolce Gusto.

Cheers!

Louis

The best pod coffee I've ever tasted was some from a Nespresso machine demonstrated at an appliance shop in Rockridge. The machines themselves are pricey - at least $250 - and I never did get around to pricing the pods.

I'm still quite happy with the H/B "Scoop" single serve machine. It does require grinding coffee and limited cleanup, but I like the economy of buying beans in bulk, and being able to tailor the brew strength without sacrificing volume (up to 14 oz per brew).

Lately I've been enjoying some special Nicaraguan "peaberry" beans I picked up at Costco a while back. The beans are small, about half the size of a normal coffee bean. The brew is good, almost sweet, not bitter, not over acid. When the bag runs out I'll be back to the run of the mill Colombian, but I think I'll miss the peaberry brew.

I love my Keurig 2.0 and the wide variety of coffee in the pantry (30 varieties of regular, decaf, and even a few flavored). I drink 4 to 6 different coffees every day. It's great! The strong setting on the 2.0 makes a bolder cup than the older version (which I have at work).

Too bad the KOLD beverage maker has so many things going against it: Price of the unit; price of the beverages (4 for $4.99 in US); limited to an 8-oz. serving. Keurig hyped the machine early in the spring, then didn't make it available until late fall when it was cold outside and everyone's thoughts turned to hot cocoa, tea, and hot apple cider.

Keurig dropped the price to $199.00 for a few days around Black Friday. It's now selling for the discount (their term) price of $299.00. Those who like it have great things to say about the flavor of a freshly-made soda. The cost of unit and beverages are, understandably, almost universally panned.

Yes, the method it uses to create carbonation is cool, but I just can't justify having a small refrigerator running 24/7 for the occasional Coke Zero or flavored water. It's just as easy (and much cheaper) to use the 2.0 to make a large iced tea or coffee and to buy soda at the grocery store.

Nespresso machines are sold here in a few different stores around here, even Sears I think, but you won't find the capsules in any grocery store. Even some of the stores that sell the machines don't carry them. And they're way too pricey, both the machine and the capsules.

Louis.. The Senseo wasn't a bad machine but a very poor selection of coffee and the only store I could get it at was the Dutch store which only carried 3,, decafe, regular and dark.. It was the cheapest of all.. 36 for $10. The taste.. passable but no comparison to the Nescafe, that's why I'm switching back.

Keurig would make some sense if it was an espresso machine - the time of brewing is way too fast to make a drinkable cup of coffee considering lack of pressure, coarse grind etc etc. Grandma likes it, so I tried probably each and every pod they have. All taste like hot water with 1/4 tsp instant coffee at best.
Machine developed ridiculous issues that would make it overheat and spurt hot water all over the kitchen - Keurig's solution, as a part of recall, was to send a plastic "brace" that would prevent spraying. Well, they put a lipstick on a pig; one would still find all the grounds in the cup and muddy mess all around it.

KOLD is one of the worst gimmicks I've ever seen, I can't find words.
