What a horrible moment for Kitchenaid to release a new product. Tons of bills to pay, now I'll be desperate because I know I'm my own Santa, so I'll have to write a letter to myself.

Wait.... it's just a convection oven.... nothing more.
For that price, I can add $50 and get that Samsung microwave/convection oven that will take less space in my tiny kitchen.

Anyway, this Kitchenaid oven looks super cool... err.... hot!

Marked down from $279 to $189.

That always makes me suspicious that it is not selling. Or is it overpriced junk.

I'll have to look at one in person. I like the two fans in it.

I have a Hamilton Beach with a Swing up door I bought last year that I use the hell out of. I think I paid like $60+ and it's a good little Convection Toaster Thing. It has dials and no Digital presets.

Sometimes simplicity outweighs the beeping flashing preset world we now have ; )

If anyone here buys one, I will be anxious to hear their review and thoughts.

This is what's been on my mind all weekend. I had it in my cart, but so far I've been able to convince myself not to click checkout.

My mind keeps saying "But it's usually $400-$500 so this is a great deal and there's no shipping and you even have a $5 discount.

But my logic keeps saying "$165 even is crazy to pay for a toaster. It probably is built like any other toaster and can't do anything a $10 or $20 toaster can't do. It's not even a toaster OVEN!"

Plus I already ordered a Cuisinart that's 1/3 the cost of this Kitchen Aid.

I like my toaster ovens small and petite and good at making toast. Been through numerous over the years, but the Panasonic Flash Xpress is a champ. We use it mainly for making toast, its super fast and even. Or making small things like bake potatoes etc . Anything bigger can go in the big stove oven.. The Panny uses infra red and halogen type lights,, so no preheating required, it's instant heat.

In brazil I had the Oster Counterforms toaster oven.

Gosh, i loved it soooooooo much. I bought it in a store in Paraguay, paid 20 something dollars.

In my kitchen I had an infamous Bosch Liftmatic oven (equipped with a jackass broomstick that i had to cut to fit as a holder because the "lift" decided to break literally 1 day after the warranty expired and fixing it was unthinkable as Bosch wanted $5300 US dollars for that part only.

Then I bought the Oster for silly stuff (as it was a pain to use the Liftmatic)

Years later, I had to remodel my kitchen because of that POS oven and just "stole" an Electrolux Icon from the lab. LOL. Anyway, the Oster was still my family's favorite oven for almost everything. Even cakes we used to bake in it because that tiny "thing" was amazingly fantastic. (And the Icon was also a POS)

I can say I was never lucky with ovens, except that little Oster.

And when it was not "in use" It was always dehydrating apples, banana or pineapples. I can say that little oven spent over 90% of it's life literally on almost 24/7. Probably 100% of the meals we prepared (in Brazil we have a culture of cooking all meals at home, just in time) had at least one thing that was prepared using the Oster Counterforms.

I regret so much I didn't bring it to the US. It's impossible to find one here and Oster never made an oven so perfect.

Breville

We have the Breville Convection/Toaster oven. It works really well as a toaster and an oven. Since we moved into this house though, we bought the Samsung Duo Flex oven that is two ovens in one. I find myself using that all the time so we put the Breville away for now as they do take up space on the counter. We picked up a new toaster for $10 at an Estate Sale so we use that for toast and bagels and the rest use the oven.

I can heat up the top part quickly and put pizza or whatever I want in there to warm up. The oven has two separate Convection fans for the upper and lower sections to bake at two temps and then when you use it as one oven they alternate. It's pretty cool and we have been happy with it.

We have one that is a dozen years old,

and it still works fine. The newer ones don't have that kind of longevity reviews though. One Cuisinart chef's model in stainless has a 3 year warranty, and better reviews. It's about $180.00 Even the $250.00 Breville's don't have the greatest reviews.
