New Kitchenaid DW W/auto open 39 db/water softener

Anyone know anything about this new model #KDTF924PPS? It has an auto open feature, water softener and wash cycle countdown that projects on the floor. It also appears to have a European depth to allow it to be installed flush with your cabinetry.

Looks like WP is finally trying to compete with the TOL Miele and Bosch dishwashers. I almost wonder if it's made by Bosch???

KA had a model or 2 with a softener about 10-15 years ago. Wonder if this will have a filter needing to be cleaned rather than the clean water wash system. Priced into similarr models with Bosch Benchmark.

CES is this month and I think KBIS is next month.

Has Pre rinse option that that sounds like the TurboZone of my former Kenmore Elite.

IF I stay in this house, this would be a perfect model with the water softner. IF I build another house,it will include a whole-house water softener system and I won't need this in a dishwasher.

As usual, WP/KA's website is absolute trash.
I see from the AJ site photos, there looks to be a slightly modified wash arm design!

Yes, anything in this platform that is less than 40db, has the manual clean filter cups.
The Power Filter mechanism can't reach that low level of quiet. Probably from the mass of the spinning filter. And larger motor for it.

Now Whirlpool has one with similar features...

These new models have high-end looks with the metal cabinet. Appears like the water valve is built into the hose, similar to Miele. Great price too.

Whirlpool dishwasher with built-in water softener

I need to look up the details when I’m at work but it’s clearly a European design who knows where it’s made it will likely be fairly quiet. It’s much smaller inside than a US dishwasher and I dare say it’s going to be troublesome, probably impossible to get repaired but if it works well for a while, it might be worth 1000 bucks, if you really need a model with water softener.

Unfortunately, far too many products like this are in introduced, and whirlpool has no intention of servicing this product for the long-haul. If it all, they have much too complicated, a product lineup, and the poor consumer that ends up with something like this is going to end up with an appliance that will never have a long lifespan.

This looks suspiciously like a Bosch that was easily available during COVID---made in Germany, it was an ADA machine (so kind of universal, plus had a water softener which is a plus out in the desert).

We were on the hunt for a dishwasher in 2021/2022, did want a Bosch, and this one was readily orderable at HD (and Lowes' if I recall) with a quick delivery. Went and saw one at Pacific out here in Palm Springs. It would have been OK, but the smaller compartment was noticeable (I took along dishes to test out fits).

We ended up going with Abt Appliance which was able to ship out here without an issue (local retailers were quoting multi-month delivery times--HD actually reneged on an order we'd placed and waited a couple months for).

This WP looks like they had a small hole in their product line (ADA upscale) that they could plug with the unit that BSH had a manufacturing line set up for. Kinda like Electrolux making the final 40" electric ranges for everyone.

Run, don’t walk! Mediocre dishwasher and that price is way too high. In general they use too much water and energy on the normal programmes and the eco one doesn’t clean well. Oddest point the Dutch consumer organisation (Consumentenbond) found is that even silent rated machines are still rather loud. You wonder how they achieved the low dB rating then.

My  3yo Kitchen-aid is rated at 39db and is almost totally silent.  Getting a bit of pump noise, would appear something is lodged in there.
