I was watching "Mad Men" tonight, and the main character has seemed to walk away from his life in New York and is spending time in California. Show is set in the early 60's so things are a lot different now. To be honest the thought has crossed my mind from time to time, life isn't exactly easy for me at the moment.

So, have you ever thought of walking away, have you done it?

Hi Matt,
I certainly have thought about 'walking away' a few times during a rough spot in my life. Sometimes it seemed like the only option available to me. Then I thought it out a bit more and realized there where a few flaws to my walking plans.
First and foremost, was that my 'problems' where always a result of me; the way I was or wasn't doing something..and that the next biggest flaw in my plan, was that wherever I decided to go, I would be right there whenever and wherever I ended up! DAMN IT! Problems don't just stay behind us like a load of dirty clothes left on the floor somewhere.
Think whatever problem you are having through and no matter how hard the solution is (and maybe it isn't' as hard as we think) just do it. Facing fears and problems makes them go away. Running from things just leave your troubles behind, for a bit. They WILL catch up with you again someday.
Do what's right and do what your heart tell you to do.
Best of luck Matt. --Laurent

ps. There is a great book called The Four Agreements by Don Miguel. They should teach us this stuff in grade school!

Fix the log in your own eye before pointing out the splinter

OMG! I have certainly thought of running away and starting up fresh in another city.

Problems is same sort of evil people that judge and jump to conclusions and gossip without knowing the facts and details are everyhwere.

But once others figure them out and get past their charming two-faced fronts, they eventually get "outed" for who and what they are and they create their own troubles.

So unless there is a good WIFM ("What's in if for me?") I'm not running.............

Besides there is no other city like mine. :-)

Problem with running away is that 6 months later, the big old UPS truck shows up with all that baggage you left behind and deposits it on your doorstep. You can run, but you can't hide from you. And Toggles hit the nail right on the head, too. Once you learn to not give a fat rat's ass about what anyone else thinks, says or does, life gets a whole lot better!!
