Help Support :

Well D_ _ N!

Just went through Repairclinic.com website and the dial I need was NLA. Strange though that they had the dial with "suds return" but not the other one.......hmmmmmmm I'm pretty sure mine doesn't have suds return.....

OMG! That is the EXACT one I had growing up. The only difference was mine did not have the pilot light fixture. I do not know the exact year of manufacture on ours, but it was purchased in Sept, 1972. It could have been an older model. The emblem on ours was also completely worn off.

I am not surprised that the interior looks pristine. When my father and I disconnected it after 27 years, the interior, and especially the drive belts looked brand new. This washer will last you a long time without any problems. The only issue we had with ours, was that the timer needed replacement. That only was once.

Have a good one,
James

BOL was the 106

Suds savers had 4 characteristics

Diverter valve inside behind the pump

5 buttons either in the left or the middle set of buttons

2 drain hoses on the back

Return suds on the timer

A a806s with PP has 6 buttons on the left side of the console

Thanks!

Thanks for the info Bp.......I was pretty sure mine didn't have the suds saver feature (for the lack of 2 drain hoses in the back and the extra buttons) I haven't made much progress getting the agitator to come out......I'm afraid it will break if I put too much pressure on it......Any other suggestions guys and gals?

Agitator Removal

Remove the lint filter and pour a big pot of boiling water down the middle of the agitator. Use rubber gloves and try pulling the agitator out at different spots.

Worked like a charm on my 1964 A-702.

Mark,

Hot water like others have said, let it soak a bit and then drain out the water. Then try a rocking motion by pulling up on the skirt at the bottom moving your hands around the whole thing. This worked for me but it's possible the all turquoise agitator is a softer plastic than the black one you have.

Just be careful not to get your face to close when you pull up because if it suddenly gives it will fly up and hit you in the face!

it will fly up and hit you in the face!

Thanks guys for the suggestions...........Patrick, knowing my luck I will probably hit myself in the face with it......I'm always bumping my head on something... I have a gash healing on the top of my head now where I ran into the garage door that i forgot I had put half way down......Good think I have to wear a hard hat at work.....lol

nice machine.....

I like your machine! I have a center-dial Maytag too, mine is White, and I have a Harvest Gold dryer to go with it. Not the same color, but no big deal. I'm always looking for the Maytag center-dial machines in my area, just don't see them very often.

Them-there pesky stuck agitators...

To get the one out of our 512, (of course, after asking the gurus here), I ended up rigging a sort-of "sling" out of two loops of fairly thick nylon rope, by lacing the rope through the holes in the bottom of the agitator that you see when you look down the center after you've got the lint filter out. Use two loops, one on one side, and another on the opposite side, and loop the top of the ropes around a section of 2 x 4 before you tie them off, and use that 2 x 4 as leverage to pop the agitator up and out. Hope that's at least as clear as mud. As Douglass Adams would say, "Go to it, and Good luck." Oh, yeah...and wear yer hard hat! ;-)

Picture of the lint filter??

I have a Maytag A207, and I understand that underneath the softener cup, there's supposed to be a lint filter. Is this a removable piece? I'm not seeing anything that looks like a lint filter in mine...and no accum. of lint...that's why I ask.

I inherited "Fred & Ethel" (dryer and washer respectively)with my house 5 yrs ago, and finally got myself online to find out what the softener dispenser actually was... Repaired Fred once, now it's Ethel's turn.

Thanks for any info on the lint filter!!

The filter is in the barrel of the agitator. Just grab the top of the agitator and pull upwards. If it has never been cleaned you will find it might be a chore to get out. It will be caked with lint. Especially from all the years of washing. One word that comes to mind is Yuck!the softener dispenser lifts right out since all it really is is a cup. Very simple design. Let us know how you make out.

Yuck!

Found it. Thanks!! Wow...who knew I'd discover a softener dispenser AND a lint filter all in one week!
