I'm picking up a new washer/dryer set today. My laundry sink backed up, and my 806 sucked the water back in, and started making horrific noises. I don't think Volvoguy87 is going to have it fixed by the time he moves to his new manse, with the shrine, I mean, laundry room. So I figure I'll need one in the mean time since the 206 needs a transmission rebuild. So why turn down a lighted set? :) I figure we can tear down and rebuild both machines at the same time, so they will be good for another 40 years. If you want to heckle him into doing it, I'd appreciate it! :)

New Pictures!

Machine is home, in the basement, and some preliminary cosmetic cleaning has been done. I ran a load of rags through on HOT , because the machine is filling slowly or not at all, especially on cold (whether there is calcium, or if it's the pressure control hoses, I don't know yet) After running hot water through it, the agitator popped off with almost no effort! Not the case with the other Maytags!

Oh, and these are my youngest set.

Appears to be November, 1976, the newest of my Center Dials, and the HDE808 is YW, October of '76.

FS cup.

I found the FS cup in my car this morning. Also, Wes, don't forget the obligatory bleach wash to kill any cooties inside. You should switch hoses to a non-safety hose and see if that improves flow. Also, check the water falve screens for mineral buildup. There is a new injector kit sitting on the other A806 if you need it.

Buttons for days

I really love the 806 line.

If these machines had the same capacity as their TOL KM/WP contemporaries, I'd be in hot pursuit of a matched set.

Out of curiosity....How many buttons was the MAX on a Maytag?.....

4 for water level

3 for wash temp...2 for rinse

2 for wash action and 2 for spin speed......

was there a model that added more for say SudSaver?.....

I always liked Maytag Program washers......usually seen with a soak cycle, that would continue into the Normal cycle....and thats all there was on the dial.....and then 3 buttons would change/control for a RegularWash, PermanentPress, or Gentle
