Hello everyone,

I joined the Automatic Washer forum a few weeks ago and thought it was about time I introduced myself. My name is Mike, aka Buffster and I live in San Francisco. (I'm also a member of the VCCC--Vacuumland.)

I've been enjoying your posts for the past few months and have even had the great pleasure of meeting several members recently in Chicago--Air-Way Charlie, badata, Gansky1, hoover1060, tlee618, vinvac and Fred Nelson (sorry Fred, I couldn't remember your user name.) Did I forget anyone?

My story is pretty much the same as everyone else's. I was in shock to discover that I wasn't the only one out there with a fascination and passion for vacuums and appliances. My favorite appliances (other than vacuums) are vintage Maytag washers and KitchenAid dishwashers--I had a wonderful opportunity to see and play with some beautiful machines at Fred's. Thank you Fred.

I'm looking forward to many great exchanges and meeting many more of you in Omaha this September.

Here are a few pictures of my small, but rapidly growing collection.

Western Electric Trimline Phones

By the way, I also collect Western Electric Trimline and Princess phones, as well as lapel pins. And, I'm always interested in sharing stories and resources--where to find the best deals.

Here are a few pics of my other collections.

Welcome to AW Mike, so glad that you joined in. It was such a pleasure to meet you last weekend at Fred's. You have some great collections started there. Next we have to get you going on Disney World Pins. You are going to really enjoy this site it is a great group of friends. Terry

Welcome Another San Francisco member

Welcome Mike
I'm also a San Franciscan living in Noe Valley. I've been a member for many years. My interest is mainly in Frigidaire washers but do have a 1987 Maytag washer that I use on a regular basis.

Terry and Jim

Thank you both for the warm welcome. Terry, it was a pleasure meeting you in Chicago and I'm looking forward to seeing you again in Omaha.

Jim, great to see another San Francisan on this site! Noe Valley is a great area. Wish I had purchased a place there before the market went through the roof!

Welcome Mike!

Great shots, Mike! I love the way you have the pin collection displayed. My son has a couple dozen of pins from various places/events, I should do something like that for him...

You have some very nice vacs too, that Miele is just stunning in that color!

Howdy Greg...

Thanks for the nice welcome. I love my new Miele Capricorn, but actually prefer the turquoise blue of the Aquarius, which may find its way into my collection because of its great retro color. I just need to find a Miele dealer in the VCCC, so I can get a good deal.

Is your son a budding pin collector? We can chat more about it offline. I'm sure I have some pins I can contribute to his collection. Just remind me to bring them with me to Omaha. The shadow boxes are great. I found them at Nordstrom last year. The front "window" is hinged for easy access. In the past, they were very hard to find, now I'm seeing them everywhere. Another great source is Potterybarn. Don't like them quite as well as the ones I purchased at Nordstroms; however, Nordstroms sold out of them--very popular--but decided not to continue to carry them. Very disappointing. Here's a better pic of the Capricorn...

Hello Everyone...

Thank you for the warm welcomes. Nice to meet you Kenny, Steve, Gene and Steve R. It's great to be part of the club. I'm sure meeting some terrific people.

Jeff and Michael, thank you for the warm welcome as well. It was great meeting you both in Chicago. (You make a great couple.) Thank you for including me in your tasty BBQ. I also enjoyed the opportunity to see your beautiful home and vacuum cleaner collection. (I don't know that I was of any help in moving the washers and dryer though.)

Can't wait to see you in Omaha. Glad you're going to be there too.
