Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

D50 Dryer

Those D50's were workhorses. Very easy to repair. Quiet too. They got very hot but took a while to dry towels and denim. I bet they would work better with the spin speeds of today's washing machines.

Maytag

Hi Unclejohn

Great you managed to find a Maytag A50 twinny and yes for a small twinny it aint half heavy, those big induction motors weigh a ton, love the dual rotation pulsators aka hoover like but are much deeper..

I never thought we would see one this side of the pond but found one on ebay locally yrs ago..it was fitted into an RV motorhome and had come into a big fitters in the north of England to be re-kitted out, a compact Zanussi automatic washer took its place.

I did get an original spare belt for the pulsators when I was in North Canton the last Hoover convention but as its a clear polypropylene it also has cracked n crumbled so am going to get one (and a few spare ) made from a specialist belt maker..

Thank you guys

A50 in the U.K. ? Never thought of that... Cool !

Now i wonder how many 'real' british Hoovermatics in America,
other than the now already quite scarce 'export' model 0500...
