I have just found this sight. I can't believe its here. I have been intrested in washing machine as long as I can rember(my parents said if i was fussy as a baby all they had to do was prop me up in a basket in front of the Westinghouse frontloader to watch it work) I have let so many vintage appliances go because I thought no one else would be intrested. I live in Mansfield Ohio, Home of Westinghouse, and so many of my relatives worked there I have hear hundreds of stories about it. I wonder if anyone in this area shares my intrest? and what is a "wash in"

Greetings, Jeb.

A wash-in is a gathering of washer-nuts, typically a regional/local area thing, hosted by one or more individuals who have a few vintage machines. Buncha washing, tinkering, shop talk, visitation. Literally, suds and duds.

Welcome to the group!

Jeb- I remember when I first found this group I too couldn't believe other people out there had this fascination with washing machines like I had always had since childhood. Since then I have spent countless hours reading all the posts and viewing all the media this great site has to offer. There's never a dull moment around here. I guarantee you will find much enjoyment with this site and hopefully will make some new friends as well. Welcome!

Patrick

Welcome

Please have a seat in our waiting area, help yourself to tea and crumpets, and Toggleswitch and Veg-o-matic will be out in a second to get your stats.

I second the welcome from Northern Indiana!

Welcome to the club Jeb. This is a GREAT place to be! If you have any photos of your machines, please share them with us.

Hi Jeb, Welcome to the group. Im just outside of Akron/Barberton area in Coventry Twp near Portage Lakes. Drop me an email sometime and come by and see my collection and chat. Have you been to the Westinghouse Museum yet in Mansfield? I have a couple of things on loan to them for their displays. Drop me a line when you get a chance, its always nice to talk with new local members..........

Laundromat

Hi Jeb! I was in Mansfield way back in 1975 during my successfull runnaway.I went to go wash my clothes at a neat laundromat right in front of the Westinghouse factory!! All of the washers and dryers there were Westinghouse and the old signs like "Hello Neighbor! Welcome to your neighborhood Westinghouse Laundromat equipped coin operated half hour laundry."were all over the place. The factory looked so run down and depressing and the laundry attendant was a serious alcoholic. But,she did tell some quite interesting stories about some of the people at the factory as well as some of the goings on there especially after the WCI takeover.Remember the Aldwash/Alddry/Aldspin machines????

Welcome Jeb, I know the feeling when you discover that there are others out there with a similar interest. This is a great group with so many wonderful people. Welcome!! Terry
