Hi, I've posted on a few things the last few weeks and realized I hadn't introduced myself. I'm Jamie from Omaha. I've met a few of the member here. I started off collecting vintage TV's and radios. My Uncle had a Zenith TV sales/service shop in the 70's, so that started my interest. I have recently gotten "into" vintage appliances as well. These last few months I have swapped out the newer kitchen appliances that came with my house for vintage ones. Thanks to Greg here in Omaha I have a 1956 Frigidaire Fridge and a 1956 GE Mobil Maid dishwasher. I also have my grandmas 1955-1956 era GE stove which had been in storage 20 years. I love the look of my kitchen now and don't miss the newer ones at all. Previously I had a GE Profile fridge that altho was nice, was wayyyyyyy to huge for my kitchen. I don't know what the previous owners were thinking when they bought that one. I love this site and hope to get to know more of you.

Welcome to AW. It's always good to see a member from my home town (OK, strictly speaking, I'm from Council Bluffs. But don't hold that against me. I know how you Omahans feel about poor old CB ;-)

Hi and welcome :)

I'm kind of new here myself as well. I also collect TVs. I have one Chromacolor II, a 23" from 1977.

Nice to be "meeting" all of you so far! Ben, Was nice seeing you again, and hope to see you the next time you're in Omaha. I'll see if I can get Greg to snap some pix for me. You already have seen the fridge I have. He parted with that Frigidaire in his garage I had been lusting over for years! And Spats!!!! Another tv collector! I've kind of scaled back on the TV's, but have a 19" 4 tube hybrid Chromacolor. A 23" Chromacolor 2, 19" System 3 with Zoom and a 19" System 3 with SPace Phone. Also have a Zenith "roundie" and an RCA CTC-16 Roundie.

Welcome, Jamie! As with all new members, we ask that you provide us with your bank account and social security numbers, and your mother's maiden name. And please do it promptly, as I've still a fair amount of Christmas shopping to do and the clock is ticking, LOL.

Glad to hear Greg is helping you acquire some great vintage appliances for your household. While I love old machines all my appliances are still about 16 years from vintage-status. Everyday I tell them "you're one day closer".

What kind of washer do you have?

LOL! My washer/dryer pair came with the house, so they are not vintage. They are late 90's-early 2000's Amana Designer Series. I like them (especially the dryer) The washer sometimes tangles my clothes and I'm not amused by that....

Jamie-- Does your Amana have the old-school long, slower stroke agitation or is it an Amanatag with the Maytag-designed fast, short stroke?

I have two Frigidaire washers, one FL and one TL. The TL'er uses a Franklin transmission, which is a design from back in the mid-50's. The tub indexes counterclockwise with each clockwise stroke of the agitator. So even though it's a new machine ('06), its very old-school tranny gives it a bit of retro charm.

I have two videos of it on YouTube. Here's a link to the latest one if you care to watch it in action.
