New Miele Dishwasher 2

This is the new Miele dishwasher that I bought for my condo in Maine. It was on clearance at a dealer and I couldnt say no to the price...$525 for it since it was a left over model. The dishwasher was part of a model kitchen and the dealer lost its space so they had to rip out the kitchens and I snagged this machine. When the dishwasher was delivered today it was missing a rear leg so the installer had to order a new rear leg and a new toekick...so thats why the dishwasher looks like it does in the opening. It wont be like that when he comes back to install it properly. So here is the pics.

TWO covered detergent dispensers? That's really nice. Is it super-quiet? How do you like the cutlery rack? Does it have its own spray arm or does it rely on the upper rack's spray arm? Congrats on joining the Miele team!

It is 1 detergent and 1 rinse aid dispenser. The second detergent dispensor is to the right of the left flap. When you close the door, the detergent falls to the bottom.

All modern Mieles, suck cold air in from below the door and vent it out the front or through a condesor system in the sides of the cabinet. The final rinse heats to 65degC on a normal cycle, so at the end of the 30 minute dry period, 99% of all items are dry and cool to the touch.

I love our cuttlery rack, once you get the hang of it, it takes no longer to load, and if you group like items together it then takes seconds to empty. Most items fit in there, and with the bigger ones, I just stack them in the upper rack. The big advantage is the full rack on the bottom which means lots more space and very flexible loading.

Wow, 16 dinner plates. That's more than any KitchenAid ever thought about putting in its big plate row!! So this replaced the Maytag? Bob

This dishwasher replaced the KitchenAid that I had. I still have the Maytag in the basement in case I sell the condo. If I do sell, this dishwasher is coming with moi and the Maytag will come on up and be re-installed. The KitchenAid was going whacko on me...I would push the start button and it would start then stop. When it did start the motor had this loud hum to it. I got my moneys worth out of it since it just cost me $50 on Ebay and I had my fun with it. Plus it was a detergent pig and since having a Miele dishwasher at my partner's place in Mass and loving the flexibility of it I wanted one for the condo. Yes the Miele Madness continues.
Yes the dishwasher has what Miele calls TurboThermic Plus drying. It is very fast drying a load and the dishes are comfortable to the touch and dried flawlessly. Glassware are spotless and those pesky rust spots on silverware...gone.
The silverware tray does take some getting used to but once you do its a no-brainer. All the silverware is separated and thoroughly cleaned...I group the silverware meaning all the spoons forks knives together. Makes it much easier to unload and put away.
This dishwasher doesnt do what the LaPerla does and thats alternate the wash arms. All three arms are in motion. The LaPerla will run the middle arm first and then after 10 seconds run the top and bottom arms. Either way works well. Plus this machine has Top Solo...I have not tried it yet.

To answer Sir Frigilux's questions...it is quiet and it will be quieter when its installed properly. The silverware basket has its own wash arm right above it. So nothing gets missed. like I said before once you use the silverware tray and it doesnt take long to get used to it makes perfect sense. Every piece is separated and washed and rinsed extremely well. with my other Miele dishwasher my silverware looks new again. and not one dirty spoon or fork tines to be found. Once you have and used a Miele you dont go back.

Mike, that is a helluva good deal for your new Miele!

The 3/4 wash arm at the top of the tank for the cutlery tray looks pretty efficient - it's good to hear that you like it.

Great machine and top solo

This is a great machine. I have this model in black with matching cabinet front installed in the lab. Depending on how old it is, adjusting the top rack might be a bit tricky. When this machine first came out, it was certainly the industry standard. Did you get the tall glass insert with it? It is very useful and adds to the loading flexibility.

Top Solo - sometimes it is the fastest way to get the job doen and uses the least amount of energy. I employ it often.

No I didnt get the Tall glass insert. I really wouldnt use it anyways. I would like to get the small cutlery basket they have for the lower rack for mixing spoons and spatulas and such. I agree the top rack is a bit tricky and not as refined as the LaPerla dishwasher in Mass but it will be fine. I really keep it in one position and leave it there.

Dinner plates all facing same direction...

Does the machine wash starchy plates well?

I ask because other machines have the plates facing towards the middle of the machine, in a ratio of 60:40, or thereabouts.

So far loading like this has produced great results. The middle arm also washes down and washes the front of the plates...at least thats the way i figured it. This machine washes well and is quiet. My Miele LaPerla loads like this as well.
