The new Miele XL floor tool came in today. The current version has been such
a huge success that they introduced a new extra wide version. I've been playing with it here in the showroom and it works beautifully!

Hey Andy, I might have to check out that new wide floor tool. I've got a Flamenco II that's about 7 years old, and an Air Clean model that's maybe 20 years old (the sticker on the bottom says "Made in West Germany").

By the way, how do you think the upright S184 stacks up against other makes on carpet? I've got fairly dense carpet that other vacuums just don't seem to groom very well.

I haven't been too impressed with the Panasonic made Miele uprights. The cleaning ability is mediocre at best, and the latest production runs have been having a lot of brushroll issues.

However the NEW 100% Miele made upright is scheduled to be introduced sometime in the 4th quarter, and it is going to be out of this world. They've been working on this for over 8 years perfecting every detail. I saw them displayed in glass cases when I went to VDTA. I would hold out for one of these

Thanks Andy!

Thanks for the tip about the forthcoming Miele upright. I hadn't realized the current uprights are made by Panasonic, and after using Miele canisters for so long I'd definitely prefer my next upright to be 100% Miele as well. And I'm not in any rush, so I can wait patiently until the new uprights are launched. Well, I can try to wait patiently. :)

I love my Miele parquet floor tool. I have a 2-year-old Miele Mercury, and it's been a champ at whatever chore I throw at it. I just wish the dustbags were larger! With 3 dogs, I am truly keeping Marcus Miele and ilk in yachts....

The parquet twister tool rocks! Thanks for letting people know about it, Andy. I will attest that it is the best bare floor tool ever, and I vote Miele is the best new vac to be had. Immer besser!

Andy, will the new tool work with the S558? It sounds like something that would work well in our house. I heard that there was a change when Miele went to the new series, so new tools wouldn't fit. If it does, I would love to order one from you. Thanks, Todd

Just out of curiosity, how often are you changing your bags? I always like to ask current Miele owners with various pet situations and get an idea. When a prospective customer asks how long a bag will last I can say "Well I know a person with three dogs who changes their bags...". Also, if you don't have it already, the Active Air Clean filter is a must! It is much better at keeping down odor than the Active Hepa Filter.

The new floor tool will definitely fit on your machine! The only thing you won't be able to do is use the parking slots. That is what changed with the new series. If you would like one, shoot me an email at [email protected]

Bobby, I'm so glad you like your floor tool!

Andy, I think that floor tool is bigger than my apartment (LOL) but I know I would love it in a large home. In fact I know of people with "acres" of bare flooring that would be sure to appreciate it. It's great that they offer a size for everyone!

Zipdang, it sounds like that Miele upright is going to be awesome. I intend to get one too, just because I want one! I have a canister about the same age as yours that's a straight suction only that I'll probably upgrade with that pretty aqua one my friend Logan just got, but I'm going to do the upright first cuz it just looks/sounds too cool.

I too love the parquet twister floor tool. It is the easiest and most versatile floor tool I've ever used - makes it very easy to get in between the toilet and bathtub/wall. The only negative thing I have found is that because there are so many air slots, there is not enough concentrated suction to pick up heavier things like hard cat food. For picking up crumbs, dust, pet hair , etc. it works beautifully.

Andy,
Two of my brood of three are active shedders; one, an elderly Sheltie leaves a trail of fluff behind him where ever he parks his butt...which is everywhere. I'd say I change bags monthly. I do have to admit I'm a compulsive vacuumer. The little "bag change" indicator never moves from the empty position, but when I can stick my index finger in the bag opening and feel dog hair, it's time to change the bag! I do use the active (charcoal) filter, and it REALLY reduces the "vacuum full of dog hair" smell. I got the first one free as an incentive to buy the thing, and I need to replace it...another $30.

Miele Bag change

Hi All,

We have a Rotty that leaves huge quantities of 1.5" long hairs on anything she touches. We Vaccum 1.5 times per week and change the bag every 2.5 months or so. We've found that the suction doesnt drop off until the bag starts to resemble a housebrick (In Weight, Shape and Strength) Its quite hard to get used to the fact that with the Miele bags, you dont need to change them until they are very very full.

We've had our Miele Dog and Cat for almost 2 years now, and have just started on our third box of bags. We recently bought 5 boxes off Ebay for $65 and we figure that we'll probably now have more bags that we'll use in the Vaccum's lifetime.

Hey Scott! Doesn't that Miele upright look cool? I can't wait to actually try one out. Both of the Miele canisters I have are wonderful machines. The Flamenco II has the turbo brush, and the Air Clean (not sure of the actual model number) has the electrically-powered brush head, which works quite well. I suppose I don't really need a new upright, but I just thought...wait, like I have to justify wanting a new vacuum? For a moment there I forgot where I was. This is probably the only group where no one would question why I "need" multiple vacuums!

Zip, it looks really cool. We were discussing it on the vac forum a while back. Andy had said it will have the same size motor as the canisters, which I guess is now 1200 in the US (mine is 1100 as is probably yours). It looks to have that same control for the suction as the canisters do and it looks to have onboard tools of some kind since I could see a hose in one picture posted. I imagine the headlight is similar to those in the newer 236 power nozzles, and I believe you can cut out the revolving brush by a control in the handle. Hopefully, they will give it a nice long cord!
