Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

It's a very standard motor in the U.S.  With those mounting angles it fits Whirlpool built washers from about 1960 all the way into 1985.

What are you going to do with it, and how did it get to Brazil?

these motors came in Brastemp Super Luxo models here. In 1977 brastemp launched its first 2-speed model (normal and gentle and delicates) and the first models of this machine came with this Emerson.

around 1982 these machines started to come with brazilian 2 speed motor (weg, TGM etc.)

That looks so coool .  I've never seen the mounting plate for a Whirlpool built washer with turquoise paint.  Did you paint it that?

As good as this looks it will last even longer if the spacer for the mounts is put in, and the hoses have proper hose clamps.

Are you going to change the motor, or hold onto in case this one goes bad?

Emerson WP Washer Motor

In first post would fit WP built BD washers back to 1950.

It is neat to see your friends restored 24" WP washer in reply #2, the cabinet on the left side of picture has extra reinforcement steel, WP stopped doing that in 1960. when they added the transmission braces which your friends machines does not have.

There is no spacer missing in the picture Keith, you are seeing the tub mounting bolt right behind the transmission mounting post, also if the lower intake hose for the water pump fits tightly there may not be a need for a clamp.

Here in Brazil the machines came with fewer parts and fewer functions than in the USA. They have only been taking more and more things from our machines over the years. For us Brazilian collectors, finding a Kenmore belt drive is the best thing (extremely rare machines and better than here).
