My friend Linn and I saw "Waitress" on Saturday afternoon. VERY Good Movie.

Very very funny in spots, and serious in others, and the characters were great.

One reviewer called it "a country fried 'Sex and The City.'" Well, I might not go that far, because this had a lot more heart, but some of the talk is as wild as PG-13 can get.

And the appliances were great, too! An O'Keefe and Merrit stove, F&P DishDrawers, and most importantly, a lovely Center Dial Maytag set, in Gold. None of these are actually used, but they are still there, and that's good enough for me!

I'm planning on seeing it again, and possibly getting it on dvd.

Lawrence, I'm glad you enjoyed 'Waitress'. I've been a big fan of Adrienne Shelly's for years. She writes/directs and acts in her films. I first got into her when I saw 'Sudden Manhattan', which is a low-budget, off-beat, indie film that I've seen about 20 times. I keep showing it to people who've never heard of it.

Tragically, Shelly was murdered in November of '06, just after completing 'Waitress'. I was stunned. But the film is doing well in theaters and getting great reviews. Too bad she didn't live to see it.

She rented an apartment for office space and had complained to a worker about the noise he was making working in the apt. below hers. A couple of hours later he entered Shelly's office/apt. and hung her in the shower by a bedsheet. Police thought it was a suicide at first, but then realized there were sneaker prints in the bathtub and Shelly was wearing only socks. The worker then confessed to killing her, saying "He'd had a bad day."
