Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

How cool! Looks like a D&M machine, from the early or mid 70s. If it was closer I'd for sure go and pick that one up. I really like D&M dishwashers of this vintage, especially 1960s models.

A friend had an early 70s model in the kitchen of a house he bought. It had a high temp wash option and I told him that was the way to get clean dishes out of it. With the spray arm under the top rack, loading was pretty much a breeze. One time the normal wash button got pushed by mistake and he told me the cleaning suffered without the thermal hold in the main wash.

Norge By Fedders, Not built by D&M

There is a condo community here in town that had 300+ condos built around 1971-3 that all had this odd DW.

They were very strange DWs the pump and wash arms were all one of a kind.

Even in the later 70s there were almost none of these DWs still around, once in a while you would find one still installed but the residents had not used it in 10 years.

The few we worked on were total junk, [ main pump problems, the plastic housings just crumbled ] I am not even sure I ever even saw one work, LOL

D&M machines were good basic machines. They most often didn't have a food particle filter, but our D&M made Magic Chef performed flawlessly back in 1976. All we needed to do was scrape the dishes with a rubber spatula before loading. I will admit, however, that it was a water hog.
