Well, we're getting new products at work. We got the whole Purex 3 in 1 sheets line, and are expecting to get within the next month or so:

Clorox Greenworks Detergent and Stain Remover
Tide Stain Release Duo Pacs, Liquid and Powder
Bounce Dryer Bar
Downy Simple Pleasures Almond Cream Bliss (replaces Downy Cashmere and Silk Fresh)

There was something kinda like the dryer bar back in the 80's... I don't recall who made it, but I recall sticking it into the dry for mom.. it lasted a couple of months, but it left an awful glue residue behind when we removed it.

I'll stay away from the the dryer bar... and stay with my vinegar.

bounce dryer balls

These were out under a different name back in the late 70's and all through the 80's.I am glad to see they're back. I used them more than any other fabric softner out at that time. You knew when to replace them because they controlled the static. Once your clothes began sticking together, you knew it was time to replace them.If my memorie hasn't failed me I think their brand name was "Free N Soft"???? Do not quote me on that.

My mother used Free & Soft...it was an Ecolab product. It was usually up to me to change it. Early on they used a hook/loop (Velcro) fastening where the loops stayed on the dryer fin...later it was stickum. Directions on the pkg directed you to put it on the surface of the dryer fin. I remember it specifically called out Maytag with the wires on the fin and had you put it on the surface of the drum itself.

Green Works Detergent

Apparently, Clorox is betting a lot of ad dollars that its new Green Works detergent can take away some business from Tide. At least, that's according to an article this week in "Advertising Age":
"With the launch of Green Works detergent, Clorox is doubling its marketing outlay this year on the cross-category green cleaning brand, said one retailer. The lineup will be priced about at parity with Tide, but below other green alternatives such as Seventh Generation. Clorox says it has a patent-pending technology to boost natural detergent ingredients so they're as effective as synthetic ones, and that most consumers don't see any difference in performance between Tide and Green Works."
The last time Clorox tried to enter the detergent field was back in the late 1980's, and it got pummeled by P&G. (Of course, we all know that P&G owned Clorox from 1957 until 1967, when the Supreme Court ordered Proctor & Gamble to sell off Clorox for anti-trust reasons.)

If it is as good as Clorox detergent was in the 80's then I say go for it.If the price is right and it works then I will use it. I miss Clorox detergent because it cleaned and did not over suds and had a great scent.I hope this starts a detergent price war.

More New Product News

One more Downy Simple Pleasures fragrance is changing - one of the Radiance collection fragrances is becoming a spice-scented variant.

Tide Stain Release is coming to Walmart soon. Spoke to a P&G rep at work and she mentioned it's coming within the next two weeks. Will keep my eyes peeled.

Clorox Green Works detergent is coming out this month too, with the possibility of either Safeway or King Soopers getting it, as they are clearing out some detergents.

Has anybody noticed that all P&G detergents in the XL boxes and up have a handle on the top, rather than a large handle?
