Hans, those ranges are wonderful! The Kenmore and the '55 Norge look like they were designed by a car manufacturer of the era. The Caloric has that "look of the future" that was everywhere in the 60's.....even the facades of buildings. Seeing the picture of your GE made my heart leap in my chest. It is remarkably similar to the 30" model ca 1958 we had in the house where I grew up. The layout of the backsplash, the light with the pin-dots and the "tray" around the burner pushbuttons is identical. Thanks a million for sharing!
This was on craigslist a while back. Someone chrome-plated a Chambers. I can't imagine how much this cost, much less how difficult it is to keep smudge-free.
Even worse are the copper ones, beautiful when new, but covered in a clear enamel, that, when it scratches..moisture gets in and soon the copper tarnishes in patches, I have a Sunbeam mixer this has happened to.
So many cool ranges you all have... this and the fridge thread motivated me to figure out how to post a pic, lol... so here's one of my favorites, a Philco with all four automatic burners! Set it and forget it... enjoy a beverage while your meal takes care of itself...
Put that Kenmore in my Kitchen tomorrow!! as for the Philco, beautiful and well built, but I have never had a automatic control unit yet that would work, I would love to actually use one that did, The one on my Norge is terrible.
