hello everyone,

here is the new model for the kenmore toploading washer i saw it at my loacal sears store but the desing looks like it was made by ge because of the start pause button but would love to have more info on this particular model thank you very much but the model i saw add a water level and the second rinse option button add a funcition so that the fabric sofner can be added at the second rinse rather than the first rinse thank you for all info

If you can get by the store, look at the model number plate. If the first three digits before the "." are 110, it's a Whirlpool. While this model does look alot like a GE, I believe it is a Whirlpool. I just went to WP's website and model WTW4950XW looks almost identical. This seems to be both Whirlpool and Kenmore's entry to HE top loaders. If you can afford it, I'd recommend checking out Kenmore model 2800. It's currently about $150 more, but I have seen it on sale before priced under $600. My parents recently puchased this machine to replace a 15 year old Kenmore 90 Series and they love it. I have yet to use it, but I want to take a load of laundry over to their house sometime just to see how it does. The big difference between the two machines is the 2800 has a full electronic control panel(don't let the knob fool you, it's electronic) and it has quiet pack and a few more features.

Interestingly, the KM Elite top loaders are now made by LG, not Whirlpool. The 2800 seems to be the top end before moving to an Elite. Here is a pic I took with my cell phone of the control console.

It's the Kenmore equivalent of the Maytag washer found in thread 31233 "Don't forget the Downy" See my comments in that thread as well as the Whirlpool Cabrio 4.3 cu. ft. washer Logixx posted of the video he found on YouTube. I think it is a "World washer" model made by World washer in Mexico.A division of Whirlpool.They made the compact models back in the 70's and 80's that had the wheels and were convertible from portable to permanent installation.If you turn it over and look underneath, it's real cheap looking and reminds me of some of the toy washer mechanisms that were out long ago.Yes the controls threw me off too until I looked underneath and saw the guts of it.Their agitator is stationary,not free moving or idle like the real W'pool Kenmores were for decades.The tub turns freely and has a totally different suspension system than the W'pool/Kenmores too.

It sounds just like the Maytag I have seen at Lowes. It's agitator is no longer free but the tub turns in either direction with ease and the supension system is different from the maytag DD that whirlpool makes. but that machine had a softener dispenser on top of the agitator.

Laundromat - it's based off that, but these new ones are all made in Ohio.

The unit in question is has the larger basket like the HE's, the HE tier 1 energy and water, but the agitator like the non-HE.

I still don't care for them.The agitation of all of the top loaders that have the posts, as opposed to the base impeller kine,are water and electricity hogs and tare up your clothes.They do not spin as fast as the HE models and are a lot noisier.

New LG Front load WM2301H

Just purchased the LG 2301 washer and drier set from PC Richards (along with a G.E. french door fridge, our old GE side by side is still kicking after 26 years in its new home in the basement Great prices!) The washer is very quiet but has quite a different vibration in spin. It is "true Balance" technology and states "fine for 2nd floor installs". Takes several tries at redistribution then takes off. The machine is level all the way around and I even added a piece of 3/4 plywood over the existing floor. The laundry is on the first floor (not cement). The floor does flex slightly, even when you jump on it
1. I read about "GVI vibration pads." Any one familiar? Also how many RPM's is "high spin" compared to 1200 for extra high. I have been using the high setting for now.
2. Why does the "water fill" pulse at times? (On and off real quick) Sometimes hammers the pipes. Then it stops and fills regular.
3.Is the machine supposed to reach a full "high" spin during the rinse cycle? Doesn't seem like it does.
I hope my wife and I made a good choice, we have several friends with the same machines (different color) with first floor laundries and they love them...Thanks.

a few answers on LG WM2301HW

I have a LG WM2050CW washer, yours is a few models up from mine.

1. "high Spin" on your model is more than likely 1000 RPM(like mine is)and "extra high spin" is 1200 RPM on yours( mine is 1100 RPM) Use you "extra high spin", it removes more water, and you'll see a difference in drying time.
2. I really have no idea why it pulse's when it fills for main wash cycle(I find it annoying) but I guessing it's sensing water level and water temp.
3. no, it will not reach full spin speed during first rinse cycle. It is probably about 600 RPM during rinse spin. The last spin of any cycle, will reach the highest spin speed choosen IE: Low spin/Medium spin/High spin/Extra high spin.
