GE Filter-Flow Washers And Lint Collection
Actually they were one of the washers that had higher than average linting and often had complaints about lint streaking on clothing again because of the spin drain. GE did revise the hole pattern in the wash basket around the late 60s which helped somewhat.
Unfortunately the agitator mounted lint filter acted like a sifter and because of the movement much of the finer lint worked itself back through. GE FFs are often cited at being good at collecting pet hair, this is mainly because about the only thing this fast moving filter pan collects is longer pieces of lint and hair, LOL.
The best TL washers at removing and collecting lint and hair were the WP-KM Belt Drive machines with real back-flush self-cleaning lint filters, these machines set the standard for lint free washers for millions of US house holds.
The other machines that did the best job were the early FL washers and the combination washers, with the big holes in the tubs these were by far the best machines at removing and flushing away lint and grit.
