For most of the summer, I have been scouring the local CraigsList ads, looking for an older 30-inch range for the kitchen here at the old farmhouse. Late last week, I finally found a range that not only called my name, was in impeccably good condition (everything works, down to the timer, clock, and backguard light), but was clean and bargain priced.

I was looking for a white stove, but fell hard and fast for the chocolate brown of the Tappan that has now been moved into my kitchen.

Once again, I have a couple of questions.

First, does anyone know the name of my stove's particular shade of brown?

Second, while I figure that the range was made in the 1970s, could anyone narrow this down to a particular year or years?

As always, thanks for the info.

Joe

Hey! Very nice! My parents had a 1968 BOL avocado Tappan gas stove in the kitchen of their last house. It still worked when the kitchen was updated in the late 1980s. Tappan was known for its gas stoves--the oven temperatures were consistent and usually right on. I believe most manufacturers referred to this brown as "coppertone."
