This is our 1960 Frigidaire Imperial refrigerator. We live in Dayton Ohio and drove to Tennessee and back in one day for it. We love it. The only drawback is I cant get the freezer door to stay shut. I'm puzzled

Can you post pictures of it in not-wanting-to-stay-shut mode?
Sometimes this can be as simple as making sure the fridge is perfectly level. When we moved our fridge from one house to another last spring (a 2009 KitchenAid side-by-side) the doors were out of alignment at the new place. An easy leveling adjustment behind the grille fixed it. I know it's not the same as a door that won't stay shut, but there might be a connection.

I can't help with your question, but wanted to say that the refrigerator is gorgeous!

How unusual that the refrigerator made a journey BACK to Dayton... It was obviously meant to be!!

Just unscrew the legs a few turns in the front, and tighten them a few turns in the back. That could fix your problem.

It was the very nice GE's...like the one in June Cleaver's kitchen...that were scrapped, in many cases because of failed compressors. </span>

Well, its definitely missing two feet and the other two are bent. The freezer wasnt cooling so I started looking into that. Found that the little fan stopped working. So I need to find a motor for that. The fridge runs constantly and I think the seals have lost their magnetism. Anyone know a good place to get parts for these?
Replacement feet aren't that difficult to find. You might even get some free ones off of a used appliance retailer's junk pile. Just bring one of them with you to match up. The freezer door should close once you have the fridge correctly leveled.
The issue with the fridge running so much could be related to the non-working fan. Replace that and then see if it starts to cycle on and off more normally. Unless the door gaskets are in really bad shape and can't make a smooth seal (it doesn't have to be a super tight seal), I wouldn't launch a search to find replacements. They could be tough to find.

Thanks! I have a 1965 Frigidaire that I'm using for parts. I stole the fan motor oug of it for the freezer and with light modification it works!now I need to do the same with food compartment fan. As for feet, I stole the ones off the 65 unit. So im good there now. I came home to a quiet refrigerator today so it must have reached its temperature and shut off. Tomorrow I'm going steal all the relays and bits off the 65 and scrap it along with some 1957 GE drop in and wall oven. And a 1960 Stainless steel Frigidaire imperial double wall oven.
And the freezer door closes now?

That 1965 for spare parts - question
Hey there,
Does your 1965 that you are using for spare parts happen to have the foot pedal for the bottom freezer? That is the only part that was missing from my 1961 Frost Proof Imperial and I've been searching for years to find the replacement. I'd be willing to pay you for it and the shipping, of course.
