Today the auto industry is a polar opposite of the appliance industry. Every car company now makes a stellar product. You'll have people scream at you "GET TOYOTA, GET GM, GET DODGE."

I myself am a Chrysler/domestic guy so i'll recommend giving them a look.

But the truth is, they're all good now; GM/Chrysler, American or Asian. It's all the same now, they're all pretty durable. So get what appeals to you, get something from a dealership that will work with you and not screw you, and get what you think is a good deal.

That's my 2.3 cents.

Is it really true that Dodge is going to be replacing their 5.9 liter Cummins Turbo Diesel with a 6.7 liter diesel for 2007?

We went looking round the car lots a week last Sunday and he's probably going to go for the Dodge Ram 1500. He wouldn't even step foot on the Ford lot, the GM's didn't get much of a glance either. The Nissan Titan was dismissed instantly for being to angular and boxy as was the big Honda Ridgeline. The Toyota Tundra is still in the running but a distant second mainly because of the price. While we were running around I was counting truck sightings on the road and those Dodge Rams were by far the most commonly seen, they're everywhere. The price is reasonable as well for what you get.

Here is my two cents...beware any American car company's products...here is all that I have ever gotten with any GM or Ford...headaches, no service, TERRIBLE resale due to the rebates, inferior products...bad engines, transmissions, brakes, computers, distributors, etc...lousy dealers and the list goes on. My wife and I now own two Honda vehicles and they are both made right here in OH so we have helped support the American workforce. I look forward to selling these Honda vehicles in 6 or 7 years simply for the resale value. Look at the Honda Ridgeline again and compare it to the Dodge...the Honda is made far better. I would highly recommend the Toyota over the Dodge too. The Toyota will be on the road far longer and with less headaches. Get yourself a copy of Consumer Reports ($9.99 at Borders) and see for yourself. Check the body integrity of the the interior fit alone. Can you find any loose plastic trim? On the Dodge you will. What is your goal...do you want reliable long lasting practical transportation or a vehicle that will let you down in the long run? I am not anti American. I look for the best product...that in short is capitalism at its best! Someday the quality of GM, Ford, and Chrysler will improve or they won't be around.

We/I have had a garden variety of brands. I love the looks of the dodge but i'm scared of chrysler even though we do have a chrysler product now. We currently have a 1/2 Gm truck (for those who are familure with the Avalanche/Escalade twins.)and love it but its not much use as far as pay-load or hauling. I would have to say ford was my favorite except for their damn brakes. Good luck with what ever you get! Just dont forget the a/c, cd changer, cruise control, tilt, locks and windoes, and what ever other nifty options you decide on. lol

I would stay away from the chrysler-Dodge-Damliar Benz products-anyone I have known who has these cars has had trouble with them-one who owns a Durango has had to have the engine replaced aready.Its less than 5 years old.I would buy Ford before Chrysler.Their cars are a little more reliable.Toyota for me though.GM has been striking out as well too.

I love my old Ford F-150

I have a 95 Ford F-150 with the 300 CID 6 cylinder. I can't say I have had any major problems with it. It just turned 200,000 miles and it keeps going. I also have a 2003 GMC Yukon 5.3 4WD and have not had any problems with it but it is pretty new. The Ford truck was my first Ford, and I would buy another. I have had many GM vehicles and find that their midsize cars, large cars and full size trucks are excellent. However, I'm not very impressed with their small cars. On the MOPAR note I have owned my first and last Chrysler product. I had a 1996 Dodge Intrepid ES and it was nothing but problems and I took a huge loss when I got rid of it. Just my 2 cents.

It's a shame Ford stopped making the 300 inline 6. I suppose it had a good run, it came out in 1966. Tough and torqey, like a truck motor should be.
