Hi all

Am terribly excited (sad, isn't it) because I spotted (and of course purchased) new Persil Tablets in Tesco this morning. The variant I purchased, because it was all they had in the small store, was non bio.

So what's different? NO MORE NET!!! Finally we can dose Persil tabs via the drawer. The downside? The phosphates have gone :-(. The scent has also changed but I can't comment on that as I haven't used them yet.

They have jumped on the bandwagon and are claiming, dubiously in my opinion, that these things will clean at 15 degrees or cold. For a non bio to do that, they must have increased the amount of oxygen bleach and TAED which I don't feel very comfortable with. Unless, surely not LOL, it's just an empty claim devised by marketing men and stuck on all the packets regardless of formulation. I will just use them within the normal temperature range. I'll give them a go and let you know how they disolve and stuff.

Has anyone seen the bio version out yet? For them to disolve in the drawer they must have had to rethink the whole blue gel thing, surely? We'll see.

Regards to all

Nick

Not seen them yet - is the packaging new? Are they more crumbly now like P&G tablets?

As for the 15ºC claim, their Small & Mighty TV ad now makes the same claim, but they haven't altered the formula, hmmm....

Forgot to say Nick im looking forward to finding out how you get on with them.

I have never had luck with tablets. They just don't seem to dissolve in the drawer very well even with decent water pressure.
I only the other day ground down loads of Mackro cash and carry own brand tablets as they just did not dissolve in the drawer. I would put them into the drum but they still did not dissolve well at low temps and bits would sometimes survive through the whole wash and end up on the clothes at the end. Plus there was the very annoying thing of them falling onto the door rubber and just sitting there not dissolving and looking at you.

Is it possible for you to do any pics? I always get excited when there is a new product out (Your not sad Nick, im the same).

Theres a new budget Bio washing powder at Tescos called Vital Fresh. A box for 10 washes is 99p. Will have to give that a try.

Hi Nick

I agree with Mark, it's not sad at all to get exited about new products. I should think there are a lot of us on here that do!!

Persil Non Bio has always been my favorite product, I chop and change a lot but always return to Persil so I was exited to see your post. Checked a couple of supermarkets out today on my travels but no luck. Mind you Edinburgh supermarkets have become slow in getting new products in, have only ever seen Bold Gel in Tesco's. Sainsbury's, Asda and GrotMid ( the co-op )do not carry it yet. Hopefully they will be quicker of the mark with Persil!!

Look forward to hearing how it performs.

Paul.

well,

The German version cleans satisfactorily at 40°C.
They still don't dissolve properly in the detergent drawer.

And I seriously doubt that their long term cleaning is as good as the real stuff with real enzymes and real phosphate.

Am very much looking forward to the report on the UK version. Here's to hoping it's better.

Been to Tescos today and had a look for them but they just have the old type still.

Paul - West Lothian appears to be the same in taking there time to get new products in!

Asda at the Jewel used to get P&G products in at launch but they don't seem to do that now. Edinburgh was a "test" area for products for a while but doesn't seem to be anymore.

Stop press!!!!

Typical how I get all the information this week on Monday and have not had time to post it.

The Biological and Colour tablets will still be dispensed via Nets but the new Surf, and Persil NB tabs are drawer dispensed,

There is also a complete new range of Surf which I had the plaesure of having a look at today as it enetered the Crewe store.

Surf has new liquid tablets in Vanilla and Black Orchid flavour and Jasmine and Black Gardenia.

Both new secents smell divine and are available in powder, small and mighty and liquid tablets.

The new liquid tablets will be 1 capsule per wash.

However Persil capsules in the new Naturals range will still be dosed in ywos.

Will post pictures when I have had some tea.

Watch this space.

Persil Naturals range is 2 new powders and 2 new small and mightys, both non bio and featuring Aloe Vera and WHite flowers or the Olive blosson fragrance.
Again both these variants impressed my nose today at work.

Comfort vaporesse will have a new scent too in the olive blossom scent.

ALso in other news Lenor has 2 new scents in the 4x freshness range being

Struck by Fuschia and Gold Orchid, these are on shelves now but I have yet to try some.
Not so keen on these girly floral additions.

Be back soon to post pics.

Rob

More Persil non-bios, honestly what is the point? I take it being "naturals" (lol) they are more expensive than the regular stuff?

Surf Vanilla and Black Orchid sounds nice, but I always find they never smell of anything once clothes are dried, which sort of defeats the object. I'l be giving that one a whirl though.

I had a sniff of the Lenor Fuchsia, it smells exactly like the old Crushed Silk and Jasmine one. Amazing how all these flowers can smell the same!

Co-op Gel

Having just been into the Co-op, I have spotted their Ariel Gel version, which is a carbon copy of the M&S version, which is a rip off of the Ariel original. Was on sale for £2.49 a pop but they had sold out of the Bio version. Plenty of non bio and colour available. I took a sniff of the colour varient and haave to say it smells like cheap shampoo!! All the usual claims about cleaning as low as 15 degrees etc. didn't buy any as have enough already in the cupboard having just bought the M&S stuff!!!

Hey folks

It's been lovely to read all your responses and fab to virtually make contact with some poeple I consider friends, but I'm a pretty rubbish friend because I never make contact...

I've had an especially intense day at work - posted originally just after 7 when I saw the tabs, worked 15 hours (including presenting to 200 people after 10 hours) and have just got home after a few well deserved drinks in t'pub.

Ok, so obviously I'm back at work in about 5 hours so won't be doing laundry, but I took some pics of the new Persil. Rob, bless you - always one step ahead. Oh, Rob, old girl next door has a 95 series basic Hotpoint with 800 spin and just economy press button (red writing on fascia?), shot bearings, is moving into a flat machine will be kerb trash later this month. You have far more glamorous in your collection, I know, but is it a keeper? Should I rescue for somoeone on here?

Gutted, actually, that bio tabs to retain stupid net! Another weird decision!! Don't give a fig about any colour powder or tab product, don't get it, use liquid for that. Deals with a whole range of other stains, disolves better, better at low temps - no residue on clothes.......

Anyways here are some pics.

Just read the `blurb' on the pack for the first time. What a load of rubbish....

`for best results at lower temperatures choose a non delicates wash cycle' = if you use these on delicates and the buggers don't dissolve don't blame us

`for heavily soiled washing choose a higher temperaure' = our marketing claims are all bollocks just like Profit and Gain's , so don't bother with the whole cold water shite unless you want to rewash everything, just wash as you always did but put at least you can them in the drawer...'

Give me strength.......

Effective laundering needs....

1) Adequate quantity of water
2) Appropariate level of heat
3) Appropriate level of agitation

and t'will always be thus.......

night night
