New utility dryer

Well, I couldn't resist picking this up as the utility dryer for stuff I don't want in the regular dryers. I think they are 63s? but I am not sure. Perhaps a few parts off of this will fit on the 51s if I get in a pinch

Overall it seems to be in good condition. Well, sometimes these old machines can bring back a memory or two so I thought I would post. They are not Lady Kenmores but still have a pretty fancy look.

That is a 63/64 Model 70/700 washer. Beautiful too. Gordon (Kenmoreguy64) has the washer that would match this.

Under the door to the filter does it have the spae on the left side for the fragrance bottle to be attached to the short rubber hose to make items dried smell good?   The bottles were brown and the liquid was fairly thick.

James is right, I do have the matching washer for that dryer. We seem to see more washers of this style than dryers, which seems odd.

What was the last year Kenmore offered turquoise? The console to the left on the coppertone dryer is one of my all-time favorites, about '70 I think, but I'm not sure they still had turquoise then.

I don't know for sure when Turq. was done. '66 is the latest year that I can remember one, but it may have been around in '67, I don't know. I think when Avocado came out, it was the end or Turquoise, or very nearly so. Can anyone elaborate?

As to the console on the dryer, that console was around in one form or another from the late '60s to 1973 models. Some had a gold or copper color insert around the timer dial and other knobs/switches, while others had simulated woodgrain, while still others had 1972's dots and dashes printed pattern. I'll post a pic of a 1973 Kenmore 800 I had, this I think was the last of this console.

I grabbed it from a junk pile in 1994 or 1995, and saved it until 2009 when it was stolen from my storage trailer, presumably for scrap.

COOL KM DRYER

These are sturdy easy to work on dryers and most mechanical parts can be found to keep them running. The bad part about these WP built dryers is that they are not as fast as most other brands of dryers and they use about 25% more power drying clothes that most other dryers do. The gas versions had a very large 37,000 BTU burner so speed was great but efficiency was still below average.

 

Brain unfortunately I can't think of any parts of this dryer that would fit the 1951 KM-WP dryers, but some mechanical and electrical can still be found for these earlier dryers too.

Actually one of my dryers has the coil/heating element that came off of a 1967 dryer and looking at the parts diagram, this one looks even closer. I am also hopeful that the motor will work too.

I recently had to switch out the motor from my parts stash so I don't have a replacement if the current one stops working.

Of course I wish that matching washer were closer maybe we could have gotten the pair together...
