Just lurking over here.Do you guys prefer newer and modern appliances over vintage ones?If so why???

For the most part, I prefer old appliances: better styling, better quality materials and workmanship, they last forever if maintained properly.

Can fix yourself

I find that I can repair the vintage machines myself. Modern product (especially foreign brands) have a "lock-down" on their parts supply and therefore you're at their mercy (if they have the parts at all!). Vintage units can often be resurrected with common and economical parts.
If you're not mechanically/electrically inclined, I feel it is much easier to get someone out to fix an older Maytag or Whirlpool than it is to get someone out to fix some newer or foreign models.

I prefer a little bit of both but the older styling is the best. Most individuals will not take the time to hunt down an older part or figure out a solution to a missing or broken cosmetic piece to an appliance. The majority of us just want to buy it and forget about it. This is what sets us apart from the rest, we all have an incredible desire to do what we do. I agree that older appliances were built better and were made to be serviced unlike their newer counterparts. This is what I also like about older units, and they are much nicer to look at.

Styling HUGE issue.

I didn't emphasis styling enough with my last post. Modern appliances seem so bland and undaring with their styling. (Can we say boring?)
There's something special about a vintage appliances that makes you just WANT to USE IT.
