Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Update

So after a lengthy time of thinking and looking and weeping and wailing and gnashing of teeth, I bought a pair of Speed Queens this morning. (TC5003 and DC5003).  I was comparing 4 dealers and at least 3 product options and then ran into availability and delivery issues and basically ran out of time.  I also needed a dishwasher and refrigerator, so I punted on those and bought simple GE products in black.

I'm happy to have this 'adventure' behind me.

Thanks to all for their opinions and comments.

I have an older Whirlpool belt driven top load washer, it’s very loud on the spin cycle but it otherwise works fine. Mine is the WTW4900BW0 model. Members in the community have told me that I likely have a bearing issue, but I’m not fixing it as it’s an older machine.

Mine is also the washplate model and it’s a low water high efficiency washer, mine literally says it’s a low water washer under the lid. The newer models don’t have that as far as I can tell.

If it stops working, I’ll just buy a new machine.

I’m in the same boat, my washer has been acting up lately, so I have to research new ones. I was set to bite the bullet on a Speed Queen TC5, but I ran across a Facebook group called “Speed Queen, Rinse and Regret.” The group is chock full of unhappy Speed Queen owners. Some of them recommended the Maytag MVWP586GW commercial grade, but I’ve read about them having issues. I’m tempted to just buy another cheap one, like my current Kenmore/Whirlpool, but they really stink compared to what used to be available. Kinda sad.

My brother's Maytag bit the dust and it's not even five years old. I already recommended them a TC5 or a used direct drive Whirlpool but it sounds like they're looking to upgrade to a LG front loader. I really don't see how you can go wrong with the SQ as I think that's the last good top loader on the market today because it works like old school.
