hey everybody!
well last night i recieved my hoover "newwave" washer dryer combo. this is truely an excelent machine with some very innovative features. heres a bit of a rundown.

it has a front fill system from the top of the seal. which avoids detergent loss as the clothes act as a filter. & saturates evenly.

during four different programmes & stages the machine SPINS with a tub of water at 400rpm! to truely penetrate the clothes!

each intermittent spin bursts four times for about 30secs at about 1000rpm i think

& when it comes to final spin. it pretty much goes straight up to 1300!

i love this machine.

alas. i have a problem. im appealing to uk guys who know of machines this side of the pond. im good with mechanical repair but not electrical.

i turned the machine to the drying cycle & it cut out on me. & subsiquently keeps tripping my electricity. i've replaced the fuse although im not sure if there new ones i found in the drawer or not. but still it trips. im gonna replace the plug n hope for the best. but i hope this isnt a serious issue. i've decided to post some pics for you guys too.

enjoy n i hope you can help me!

Turquiose paddles and center fill flume

Looks like a classic washer to me! You UK people have some really cool machines. Does the water splash on the window while it's washing?

Now THAT'S what a froant loader should do. Fill flume like that as well as spinning with a tub full of water. A beautiful, hot looking machine Darren

It doesn't matter if those machines are smaller than ours. That means more loads and more water fun. I'd throw away the television for a euro washer in the living room.

Imagine, Bri, cuddling by the light of the washing machine and our clothes mingling and wrapping around each other in a hot bath of soap suds. Now that's love!

its amazing. the guy who sold me it is a repairman. & i've called him about the fault & hes coming to sort it tuesday! grrr! lol. i will post videos of the spin wash when i can.

Yay Darren!

Looks great - can't wait to see it for real, was real disappointed when it didn't turn up on Friday, but at least we got to foam up the AEG :-).

Do your parents know about it yet? :-p

See ya about,

Jon

Newwave1, that is max cool. If I understand you right, the 400 rpm spins w/ full tub of water are part of the washing process, not extraction rinses, right? If that's the case, that's got to be one of the most-clever engineering ideas I've heard of in years in terms of doing more cleaning with less water. Use centrifugal force to get the water into the clothes, rather than depending on gravity.

That would probably be very effective with pillows too.

How quiet or loud is it during the spins (slow and fast)? How much vibration transmitted to the floor?

hey jon!
come tommorrow n c my newwave:D:D:D:D seein how he let us down while we egerly awaited its arrival on friday. though we used the aeg instead when we found out he wasnt coming hehe.

hey designgeek!
yea u understood me correctly it spins with a tub full of water DURING the wash. its very very effective.& i agree one of the most clever engineering ideas yet.

it's actually very quiet as it's had new bearings. it dances around on spin abit but very quiet.

Hi Darren,

You won't get this until tomorrow morning now, but let us all know how the date with the repairman goes! Can't wait till I get to see this beast myself! Beware, though - next time I knock at your door I'll be armed with laundry and a box of Ariel! (Or shall we make that Daz? LOL).

Designgeek,

Centrifugal washing is indeed a good way to penetrate the laundry. My AEG will use a similar technique when filling for the rinses - it will pin laundry against the side of the drums (similar to the pre-spin distribution cycles) during the entire fill, which seems to help saturate the load more quickly and evenly avoiding any damp spots in the middle. Kicks up a bit of suds in the first rinse, but doesn't cause any more sudsing after the next rinse spin. Also find that frontloaders which start filling as the drum slows down from an interim spin saturate the load quickly too - even though my Bosch downstairs has low rinse levels the whole load is pretty much saturated quickly by the time the drum has revved down from the spin.

Take care all,

Jon

hey jon! i think thats a good idea that you bring some stuff with ya to try it! the rinsing is extremely good! im hoping its not too major what he has to do to get it working again. i hope by the time he leaves this afternoon that it works. or i shall be very annoyed.

also your aeg is something that has to be seen to be believed. much like the newwave when your machine tumbled with items pinned to the side & the water level is half way up the door its spectacular to see. much like the 400rpm spin wash on mine is great as it all foams up hehe. there both a cross breed of the schulthess machines we used dont ya think lol.

hey all.
update time. it was the heating eliment in the dryer part of my combo that had burn out. however. he's rigged it so i can still use the washer while im waiting for my new element. so videos soon to follow!!
