Hello Whirlpool experts!

A friend just replaced his 1977 Westinghouse top loader (due to outer tub rust) with this new WP washer, in spite of my suggestion to get a used Maytag Neptune FL.

Anywho, he says the lid can be open during the initial fill, but it locks and stays locked for the remainder of the cycle. Yes of course he can press the start/pause button, but everything stops when he does and he'd like to see what's happening inside.

Your suggestions please?

Thanks much!
Kevin

I bought the lid switch from RepairClinic for around $20 I believe. The end of it is magnetic so it easily sticks to wire shelving, or to the side of the machine when not needed. With my WTW4800 I would use it to make sure everything was moving around as expected before closing the lid. Sometimes for watching the entire cycle. :P

It's easier to just buy a spare than to have to unscrew it everytime.
