Hello everybody,

im new here and have a couple questions.
I have two kenmore jr washing machines with the hand wringer mounted on the side. I want to tak the parts off one to make the other one work. I cannot seem to find anything on the internet about them. does anybody know anything about these machines? I am having trouble getting the agitator off and dont want to break it. Any tips on that that you might be able to give me?

The machines were sitting in someones yard for a while and are not in too great of shape but one looks fairly decent. I took one apart and cleaned the gearbox, water pump and stuff with a bead blaster. there is some severe pitting on the water pump housing but it hasnt gone all the way through. The rest of the parts are fine on it but i need the agitator in one piece so that i have one.

This will be a functional use machine as I live in a dry cabin. It doesnt have to look brand new I just want it to work.

Thanks for reading my post and have a nice day =)

2 Juniors, like WOW! I dont know much about them although most have the same Kenmore logo as my 1948 Lady Kenmore, which was top of the line then. Good luck figuring out what to do because they were not Whirlpool made and I never seen any manuals. This time of year I wont do anything in my shed in Maine including use my Kenmore. Must be frigid in Alaska now, unless you have plenty of heat in your cabin. And its going to hit high temps in mid to south US again and Maine is set for 27, hate to see what it will be in Alaska.

Since it is cold up in Alaska...

I say place the whole machine outside for a day, then pour some boiling water over the agitator if it is aluminum (maybe just hot water if it is plastic). The expansion of the agitator may be enough to get it off the shaft. Are you sure there is not a bolt holding it on?

Welcome to AW!

I would suggest launching a new thread with a title containing the term "Kenmore Junior" in order to attract attention of those who may have knowledge of these machines.

There a a lot of members who will assume "New with questions" is just another here-today-gone-tomorrow person wanting to know how much their rusty old dime-a-dozen washer is worth, and they won't even bother to open this thread.

Thanks

Thanks for the replies you guys.
its not too bad up here right now temperature wise haha. not even below zero at all. I have a monitor heater to keep us warm so no worries there.

That ebay picture is what mine look like.

The agitator had a screw on the top i took off. It has a brass bushing imbedded in it an that is somehow seated on the shaft.

I will start a new thread called kenmore jr.
