I had a hoover Softwave maxi which was a comet exclusive of nextra with a easy logic door and a couple different options. I really liked it. I didnt get to keep it long as i split with my partner and left it with her.

It looked like this model i've attached. great machine, great wash when you pressed the intensive wash button it alternated slow and fast tumbles without extending the washtime, rinse level was great and did 5 rinses with superrinse selected. I'm really picky with rinsing and this machine was good at it! & the spins were great it span just like mrzanussis model. the final 1400rpm spin was exceptional!

I think hoover got the better deal as far as take overs go. Though they've lost their individuality and ingenuity.

The machine which Mr Zanussi has introduced us too is, infact, a totally different machine to UK Hoovers. It's made by Italian GIAS, parent company to Hoover and Candy sold in the UK, but also parent company to Zerowatt. These machines are found elsewhere in Europe but not in the UK.

This machine certainly has the Hoover `look' but it's a Zerowatt in most other respects. You may have noticed the machine even bears the Zerowatt logo. The low capacity (4.5kg) and associated drum which is very shallow from back to front are giveaways. Another is the 600rpm spin, the most common spin speed on low end Zerowatt machines. Spin intensity is varied only by time, all spins will have the same speed because you cannot easily alter the spin speed of this type of induction motor. So far as I am aware, no Hoover machines in the UK have previously had or currently have induction motors, but the machine in question here most definitely has a big old induction motor which will very likely throw off some heat during long cycles and after the long spin. I used to pull clothes out of my ex Zerowatt machine quite warm, from where the motor heat had transferred to the tub.

I loved this video, I really like this type of machine. Superb spin noise which here in the UK is almost exclusively heard in launderettes these days! It's obviously very capable too, with a large load, some cheap induction machines aren't as the start capacitor thing doesn't give enough kick to initiate spin.

Thanks very much for sharing!
