I have seen one of these too, at a recycle centre. I went back to pick it up and it had already been sold.

It is a UK Hotpoint top loader made under license by Fisher and Paykel in NZ for the New Zealand market only - it was never sold here in AUS, so any found here are private imports.
I suspect it was F&P's first automatic washer, but I'm not sure.

Hotpoint 1500/01

This looks like Hotpoints first machine, and one of the best looking, it kept the same features right throughout production from the 60`s through to the 90`s.

Spiraclean action, H&C fill, 1050 spin speed , nearly a Unimatic!!!

Only the lid design changed and in my opinion the first models where the better looking with a full width one lid etc..

Keith (keymatic) from TT emporium found one last year, here is a pic and also the link to his pics etc..

nice Hotpoint

Hi cm
What a cool machine! The pix of the hotpoint were great and it does look like a GE inside with a KM aj. Looks like the perfect size and was wondering how much laundry it held? And how old is that particular machine (the TL)? I like!!!

Hotpoint 1500 with Soapcake

Hi David

The Hotpoint UK Top Loader was produced in the 60`s and ran until the early 90`s here, the design stayed the same, just beefed up parts etc.....It has the Spiralator wash action, like your Easy twinnies etc...the seventies models had the famous Hotpoint Timeline where you dialed the programme time and it moved across a line like the Norge Autos..

Have included a pic of the last machine which I have and a link to some more photos etc..

The cabinet is 22 inches square and takes a 10lb washload with a spin speed of 1050 rpm...

Cheers, Mike

p.s. tell Uni I trying to find a way of tweaking it up to 1150 revs for the ultimate acolade in spin efficiency....LOL

Thanks CMike-wow

Amazing- what a machine and with a spinspeed approaching unimatics. Like it. Thanks for sharing-David. Roberts video of his 58 unimatic sucking down the suds is pretty awesome. Love the machine noise too.
