I had the chance to look at a 93 GE washer that wouldnt spin.... OH MY GOD.... I didnt realize that GE had a contract with Tupperware and Campbell's Soup for parts....I told her to get a Frigidaire FL.....

OK, I've heard a lot of talk about when the last GE Filter-Flo was produced. Some say '94, others say '95. I've seen late (white) Filter-Flos on eBay supposedly from 1995. Which was it? Getting a little confused...

We had a GE bought new in '96 when we lived in Houston. It had a long life of 2 years, then started having spin brake problems (which, I am told, is an Achille's heel among these machines). I've never seen such a cheap washer in my life. Should have kept the Westy instead...

A cousin of mine on my dad's side had a plastic GE. She said the problems began shortly after the warranty ran out. She spent a long time doing half-size loads because the stupid thing kept overflowing. Good thing she has a drain in the basement floor.

On the other hand, a cousin and his wife on my mom's side have a '64 V16 FilterFlo that came with their house. Despite some cosmetic blemishes the machine is still going strong with no signs of stopping.

Usually,when I get in a newer GE, it usually needs the "rubber bands",to hold the tub in place,or occasionally,a tub support rod. If it needs anything else,it goes out the back door,to it's final resting place.

Can someone tell me what is the SPM on the new GE's?
I know KitWhirlMores are 120 SPM with slightly over 90 degrees arc on the heavy duty cycle?

The KitchenAids have a slower SPM than the Whirlpools and Kenmores. I have a 2003 KitchenAid Superba, and it doesn't thrash at all like the 1986 Kenmore I used to use.

Wow, now I want one of those agitator to see how well the rollover would be on the normal cycle in my Kenmore. Better yet, a mound of thick suds on the Heavy Duty!

Spm on the ge is 140. The arc is about the same as WPL 110. The KA's roll over is not bad with that big agitator even at a slower 120 spm. I recently learned the 3sp motor on the KA is not the same one used on the sears or WPL. The ratings are little different. I guess this stands to reason since the motor has to do heavy loads on that "middle" speed. Based on my experience with my old 760 and 960 they could have made it a little stronger because mine would heat up and cut out.
