hello everyone i found this forum in 2003 and have loved it ever since, i think its so cool that there are others like me and although some may think im a little strange i know that im not i have had a passion for washers, dryers, spindryers, spinning tops and anything to do with water since i was about 5 years old. I used to build small battery operated models when i was younger of household appliances, which sometimes worked even if they did leak and flood the kitchen or my room but lots of fun all the same. My name is Ian iam 28 and live in central london with my partner of 3 years, he thinks that im a little mad too but he loves me anyway and i love him hes fantastic. I actually joined the site about 9 months ago but then promptly lost my net connection and diddnt bother with it but anyway im here now and i hope you will enjoy my company as much as i have enjoyed yours THANKYOU .

Hi Ian and welcome to the club, we're glad you found us! Funny, I used to build washers when I was a kid too. I can't tell you how many Dixie paper cups I would tape to a spinning battery operated motor of one sort or another to see how far I could fling the water. A bit of dish soap snuck into my room could make for suds all over the walls. Oh did my mother get pissed time and time again LOL.

How about a tin 3 pound coffee can mounted to a shaft of a motor? It was great to spin dry those GI Joe doll clothes!!

I used my Capsela toys to make a recirculating lint filter for use when handwashing items in the sink. It was definitely more messy and fun than effective.

Ian, welcome! It's great having international contributors. The more the merrier. Or, the more the "Mary"er, depending on how you look at it. :)

thanks for the welcome

thankyou guys for the welcome yeh many times i could be found with doll clothes and such like, seeing how fast i could spin them to see how dry they would become or how wet i could get with the spinning paint cans and the car battery and the hosepipe lol oh those memories of child hood.my parents used to get pissed off at me too when i would make a mess or empty an in use container for my latest project at the time,or id come rolling down the road with a twinnie or a wringer washer that id found a the back of the local appliance shop usually late at night and wake them and the neighbbours up i was much older by the time i was doing this, the best part was trying to conceal it from them after id sneaked it into the garage lol i loved it.
