I had this for about 3 years and just got around to showing it here..it was FREE on Craigslist...(one of the better 'free' things you can get on there)
The roaster oven I bought a few months ago came with the broiler rack, and I actually found another broiler rack at a local flea market shortly afterwards. However, it did not have the reflector pan attached.
We were canning chicken stock. We use the roaster to keep the jars hot until we fill them.
However, while using our roaster I did think about the broiler grid accessory. I have run across them in the past.
Although I am sure they indeed work as prescribed... but are they REALLY useful? Or was this device developed just to expand the use of the roaster which (although terrific at what it does) actually has limited use?
Would someone in 1956 really make use of the grid to make pancakes or broil steaks on a regular basis?
Just wonderin’. If I found one again I would buy it and try it. Don’t know how I’d feel. I do use the broiler lid on my Sunbeam electric skillet with good success.
When these were used as the principal cooking device in vacation cabins, a use advertised in the 30s and 40s, the broiler and griddle did possibly expand the cooking versatility of the Roaster Oven in facilities without much of a kitchen.
