Deep fryer

Really beautiful! That stove is very similar to my "new" 1956 Hotpoint Super Deluxe range. The manual says it had a deep fryer like that. I have been looking for one on ebay. And the "golden griddle" which plugs on the other side. Do you know if you need that extra heating element to use the deep well cooker as a deep fryer? WOuld the regular thrift cooker work like a deep fryer but without the separate electrical control?

I could just get a fryer basket and use it that way if I can't find the actual "golden deep fryer" accessory.

Beautiful GE Range

WOW I have never seen the deep fryer attachment for the GE range, Thanks to Walt in NY we do have the Hotpoint Golder Fryer attachment for 50s HP ranges and while it is basically the same unit the GE has a much better industrial look style.

Hi Lisa, you could use the burner under the pot to deep fry, but these fryer attachments had several advantages, one the element was suspended in the oil so bread crumbs etc won't burn on the bottom of the pot and ruin the oil so fast.

Second the built-in thromostat regulates the heat closely which makes it safer and the immersed element is more powerful than the 6" element under the pan so it can maintain frying temperatures better. The red light on the control unit lets you know when the oil is hot enough for cooking.

The griddles for the Hotpoint and Westinghouse ranges had their own heating elements, just like electric skillets and griddles for use away from the stove. These griddles that plugged into the ranges were able to use higher wattage heating elements than ones that plugged into wall outlets without the danger of blowing a fuse.

golden fryer

Thanks, John, for the info on the fryer elements. I was wondering, when you said you have the golden fryers for the 50's Hotpoints does that mean you have one you could sell? If so, I would be very interested.

I'm also interested in finding the "golden griddle" and the "custom cooker" accessories. Thanks so much for the help. I'm loving using my range already. Just last night I used the "thrift cooker" for baked potatoes. It was so fast and they were so tender. Not dried out at all.

Aw, darn,

about those fryers being so rare. Thanks, John, for your help. And please do keep me in mind if you should happen upon these Hotpoint goodies.

It's funny how I looked for years for a vintage pink range in good condition and now I finally have it. So now my next obsession is finding all the accessories that go with it. Oh well, I will stay on the hunt.

Thanks, again, John

GE Deepwell Electric Fryer Element

I found this element in a box of parts I purchased. Is this the plug in element that went into the left rear deepwell cooker? Here is a few pictures I also have the golden griddle that plugs I to the work surface. on the right hand side of the work
