Wow, when one attains notoriety on AW.org...!

I am quoting Nick, Andy and Kenny:

"Gordon, don't you have the matching washer for this?" -- Nick

"Actually, the better challenge is to find a dryer that Gordon DOESN'T have the match to... LOL! -- Andy

"Yeah, I think Gordon has about a hunnert or so washers to match that....." -- Kenny

Ok gents, yes, I have the matching washer to that dryer. There are actually two models that match it exactly, one is oddly a little de-contented vs. the other, and I'm hoping this spring to do another "brothers Kenmore" or in this case a "Ladies Kenmore" sidy-by-side comparison of the two, since I have both. One funny enough came from Kenny, and guess where the other came from??? Yep, from Andy. I was working on one of them yesterday and found out that it is going to need centerpost seals as it leaked right down the centerpost onto the transmission cover, which is not good.

I would actually LOVE to find this dryer in white. If I had one as nice as the one in the ad, I might give them inside-the-house, daily driver status.

As to having a lot of black panel machines, yeah, well I've let a few photos leak of the insanity that is my stock of black panel models. BUT, oddly enough, of the 75+ distinct 29-inch black panel models that existed from 1976 to 1983 model years, there are a few that I have seldom if ever seen, which I would still go out of my way to obtain.

I still plan to let some of the current supply of black panel machines out of the coral later this year, and I have a couple AW.org members who seem interested (Yay!).

It wasn't the 86 Lady I sent you that's leaking is it?

Nope Andy, I don't anticipate any grumblings from that gem, which comes home very soon, but then again I didn't anticipate this from this washer either. This one is about 18 months older than our '86, and had been sitting around for some time, unused in a Craigslist poster's garage. Since 2010, it's been in mine. I decided recently that I had too many in-limbo projects, which is not like me, so I tried to finish the machine yesterday. All was good until I found the 4-inch diameter pee spot directly under the center of the machine. I thought the detergent valve was leaking, but the only part I could find wet was the top of the gearcase. So,....CRAP!

It was used for a long time with iron-rich water. In fact, the hose going from the center detergent portion of the triple dispenser to the fabric softener side was completely CLOGGED with mineral deposits. It made crackling noises when I went to remove it, it was so clogged.

I guess I'm not surprised that the seals are bad, it is 27 years old afterall and had enough use to clog the dispenser. I'll give her new seals...this way provided it doesn't give me any challenges in replacing said seals, it should be good to go for some time to come. I just have to be in the right mood for that job.

Too many in-limbo projects...

Like the project where you bring said 86 Lady home and post pictures of her happily doing laundry?

Tap... Tap... Tap...

HMMM - Nope, not yet. I can't wait to have the '86 here, but with about five ahead of her needing to be complete and as issue-free as possible, I am not allowed to bring any more home until the others are fully up and running. It's the only way I know of to get through the old log-jam of work which never seems to get done otherwise.

In one case, I had to re-test it the other day because I had forgotten what was wrong with it. Now that's bad....

Bringing home a nice, hopefully issue-free machine will be a fun treat after digging through the other issues one by one. If Nick gets his arse in gear and gets a belt on his '85, then that's all well and good!! lol
